What We Do

FICUS Health builds AI-powered software for documentation and clinic management in rehabilitation. With our product suite, including FICUS Scribe, DocUpload, Peer Review and AI modules for bed management, we help clinics digitize administrative processes and improve both quality of care and economic performance. Our software is already in use at well-known operators and clinic groups.

Now we're taking the next step: we're building the Reha OS, an operating system for rehabilitation that lets clinics replace their existing hospital information system (KIS) step by step, first individual modules, then a complete switch. Founded in 2024, we've had a successful start in the German market; now a strong product is becoming a platform. To get there, we're growing our engineering team.

What You'll Do

  • Discover and deliver new modules and features end to end, together with product managers, UX designers and other senior engineers.
  • Design, develop, deploy and operate frontend and backend applications (React/Next.js, Python).
  • Build on our shared platform (patient and case data, permissions, configuration) and extend it where your work needs it.
  • Integrate AI features, from LLM-based assistance to automation, with a high bar for quality and safety.
  • Take part in architecture decisions and document them as architecture decision records.
  • Mentor colleagues and help shape our engineering culture as the team grows.

Must-haves

  • Proven track record of building and operating production web applications across the stack, with senior-level experience in a Python backend framework (Django REST Framework, FastAPI or Flask) and in React/Next.js.
  • Strong system design and data modeling: you design features that fit into a shared platform and extend it cleanly.
  • Solid DevOps and infrastructure knowledge (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS).
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into production systems (APIs, managed services).
  • Effective, everyday use of AI tools in your development work.
  • Product mindset and a pragmatic, hands-on attitude: you own your work end to end, are comfortable in a fast-moving startup, and communicate clearly in English.

Nice-to haves

  • Experience designing systems where AI agents act safely: tool use, orchestration, event-driven triggers, permissions, audit trails, human-in-the-loop.
  • Experience with sensitive data in regulated environments (health data, GDPR, ISO 27001 or C5)
  • Healthcare interoperability (HL7, FHIR).
  • Multi-tenant SaaS, or products configured for different customers or countries.
  • Self-hosting speech-to-text and LLM models; LLM evals.
  • AI-powered UI automation.
  • German; French is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Build a platform clinicians use every day, with real impact on healthcare workflows.
  • Real ownership and growth: technical responsibility that grows with the team, in a team growing to 15–20 engineers.
  • An open, motivated team that values ideas and initiative.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • An invaluable network of AI experts at the Merantix AI Campus Berlin.
  • Hybrid work in Berlin, plus up to 3 weeks a year from anywhere in the EU.
  • Urban Sports Club membership.
