Senior / Staff Software Engineer (Full-Stack, TypeScript): AI-Native Fintech

Remote (US) | $150K–$350K + equity | Full-time

The company

A well-funded, AI-native fintech automating mortgage origination for some of the largest lenders in the US. Mortgage lenders still run on 20-year-old software, and the human cost of originating a single loan is over $11,000. This team is replacing that with AI-first infrastructure.

The role

You’ll ship code on day one and own a mission-critical project within your first month. Typical projects include:

• Building multi-step AI agents that customers use to automate their operations workflows
• Integrating third-party lending APIs for documents, automated underwriting and fraud prevention
• Re-architecting job processing infrastructure on AWS for reliability and observability
• Mentoring less experienced engineers

Tech stack

TypeScript monorepo · React · Node/Express (Docker) · GraphQL/Apollo · Postgres · AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, Kafka, ElasticSearch) · Terraform (100% IaC, with a staging environment for every PR)

Requirements (essential)

• 7+ years in software engineering, including at least 5 at Senior level
• Experience at a product-led tech company where software is the product (VC-backed startup, high-growth scale-up or FAANG). Non-tech industries won’t be considered.
• Strong, recent, hands-on TypeScript experience building complex systems
• Experience scaling high-throughput distributed systems on AWS, with Terraform
• Full-stack delivery from design through deployment across React, Node, GraphQL and Postgres
• A track record of 2+ years and progression within the same company
• A keen eye for security, since the platform handles highly sensitive personal data
• Able to work US hours from within the US

Nice to have

• Experience with AI product development (evals, experiment design, dataset curation)
• Experience designing and scaling complex relational schemas
• A fintech background
• An SRE mindset focused on reliable, observable, low-toil infrastructure
• An active GitHub profile or side projects that show a builder mentality
