Job Summary The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in API Management, Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Automation, and AI-driven solutions. The API Management & Kafka Integration Engineer will design, build, and support high-performance APIs and integration services within the Enterprise Integration Services (Middleware) team. The role focuses primarily on API management and Kafka Integration / application migration to Kafka Platforms, while also contributing to the stability and enhancement of middleware platforms such as MuleSoft, TIBCO, AWS/Microsoft integration services, and SOA-based systems. The engineer will work within Agile and DevOps practices along with operation support for services. Also need to collaborate closely with architecture, QA, DevOps, middleware, and business teams. Competencies Participates in the design, development, configuration and maintenance of software code for business applications. Contribute to full life-cycle application development/configuration including user requirements, specifications, design, application configuration, API service design, web services development, testing, documentation, etc. Prepare detailed specifications and documentation from which programs will be configured, written, designed, coded, tested and debugged. May Consult with users and develop business relationships and integrate activities with other IT departments to ensure successful implementation. Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions. Participate and contribute to middleware operational activities. Administration, Installation, and support of middleware suite of products. Production and Non-Production Support including Identification, diagnosis, and remediation or escalation of operational issues Technical Skills : Strong expertise in API Management (APIM) (Preferably Tyk, APIGEE, Layer7 etc.), including API lifecycle management, governance, security, policy enforcement, versioning, developer portals, and API product management. Understanding of API and messaging security, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, mTLS, secrets management, and access control. Hands-on experience with the Confluent Platform / Apache Kafka, including event-driven architecture, Kafka brokers, topics, producers, consumers, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, ksqlDB, stream processing, and platform administration. Experience building and maintaining enterprise integration platforms, enabling scalable, secure, resilient, and reusable integration capabilities across applications. Strong Platform Engineering mindset with experience building self-service platforms, improving developer experience (DevEx), platform automation, standardization, and operational excellence. Hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation for automated infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management. Strong understanding of GitOps practices using tools such as Argo CD or Flux for declarative deployments, configuration management, and continuous delivery. Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps. Experience deploying and managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift. Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native integration services. Experience implementing observability for APIs and integration platforms using monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting tools. Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, asynchronous messaging, event-driven architecture, and microservices. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across architecture, application, and platform teams to drive enterprise integration best practices. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and support enterprise API and event-driven integration solutions using API Management platforms and Apache Kafka. Manage the API lifecycle, including design, governance, security, versioning, publishing, monitoring, and developer enablement. Build and operate Kafka-based integration platforms, supporting application migration, event streaming, and real-time data processing. Implement cloud-native and platform engineering practices using Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), and GitOps. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks to improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence. Ensure platform security, observability, and reliability through monitoring, logging, tracing, incident management, and adherence to enterprise security standards. Collaborate with architecture, DevOps, middleware, QA, and business teams to deliver scalable integration solutions, provide operational support, and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including AI-driven automation opportunities. Educational Qualification and Experience: Minimum of 15 years of formal education - Graduate / Postgraduate in Computer Science / Information Technology.
