We're building our in-house engineering team, and you'll be one of its first senior engineers working directly with our Head of Engineering to take full ownership of the platform. This is a hands-on role on a small team: you'll design, ship, and operate consumer-facing systems end to end, from API design through deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution. What you'll achieve Design and ship backend systems in TypeScript/NestJS on PostgreSQL, Redis, and event-driven infrastructure , owning features from design through production Build and operate the systems behind a consumer fintech product: payments flows, wallets, cashback, search and discovery Make solid system design decisions, scope the right-sized solution, ship an MVP, iterate. We value shipping over over-engineering Own what you ship: deployments, observability, and incidents through to resolution Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) as a core part of your daily workflow, and help raise the bar for how the team builds with them Contribute to engineering standards as the team grows: code review, CI/CD, testing practices What we're looking for: 5–6 years of backend engineering experience, with 4+ years in TypeScript/Node.js Experience building B2C / consumer-facing products at meaningful scale, preferably Fintech/Payments. Strong system design fundamentals with an MVP mindset; you know how to scope and ship the right-sized solution Deep NestJS expertise: dependency injection and module architecture, the full request lifecycle (guards, interceptors, pipes, filters) Strong Node.js fundamentals (event loop, streams, async patterns) Relational database design with PostgreSQL, NoSQL experience, and fluency with an ORM (Prisma or similar) In-memory data stores (e.g., Redis) for caching, sessions, and pub/sub Event-driven architecture and message queues (SQS or similar) Search engine experience: Typesense, Elasticsearch or similar Testing discipline: Jest, Supertest, Testcontainers Full deployment ownership: CI/CD with GitHub Actions, containers/Kubernetes literacy, observability with Sentry or similar, and comfort with on-call Genuine daily use of AI coding tools (Claude code, Cursor), embedded in how you work, not occasional Strong communicator: Comfortable discussing trade-offs with engineers and product Nice to have: Payments, billing, or double-entry ledger systems RAG pipelines, vector databases, embedding-based search Building MCP servers/tools or Claude Skills Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS/GCP) Department Engineering Locations Amman, Jordan Remote status Hybrid Employment type Full-time Employment level Executive / Senior Level About SPICE We fund restaurants with upfront capital, then drive high-value diners to their tables.
