Our client is seeking a Senior .NET Engineer to develop and maintain financial systems focused on ledger management, transaction processing, reconciliation, and banking platform integrations.
The role will focus heavily on C#, .NET, PostgreSQL, and Azure, with an emphasis on building reliable financial applications that maintain transaction accuracy, data consistency, and auditability. The engineer will also leverage Claude Code to accelerate software development and implement AI/LLM-powered capabilities within financial workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services for financial ledgers, transaction posting, balance calculations, and reconciliation workflows.
- Implement reliable financial transaction processing mechanisms that preserve accurate and traceable records.
- Develop immutable transaction records and controlled correction or reversal processes to maintain complete audit trails.
- Build idempotent APIs, background jobs, and ingestion processes to prevent duplicate financial transactions during retries or repeated requests.
- Manage concurrent transactions and maintain data consistency through appropriate database transactions, isolation levels, locking mechanisms, and concurrency controls.
- Ensure monetary accuracy through proper decimal precision, rounding, and data serialization across application services, PostgreSQL, and external integrations.
- Develop reconciliation solutions that compare internal ledger records against banking and payment data, identify discrepancies, and support exception resolution.
- Build and maintain integrations with banking and financial platforms through APIs, file-based exchanges, and event-driven interfaces.
- Deploy, monitor, and support PostgreSQL-backed applications within Azure or AWS environments, ensuring security, reliability, and effective production diagnostics.
- Use Claude Code to assist with software development, debugging, refactoring, and testing while independently reviewing and validating generated code.
- Implement AI/LLM and generative AI capabilities for relevant financial workflows, ensuring appropriate output evaluation, error handling, data protection, and human oversight.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate financial requirements into technical solutions and validate critical transaction and reconciliation scenarios.
- Document technical decisions, system behavior, and implementation processes while communicating project progress and potential blockers.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of overall professional software engineering experience, with senior-level capabilities in designing and developing complex backend systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET backend development.
- Practical experience developing financial applications, particularly involving ledger management, reconciliation, banking integrations, or payment processing.
- Ideally, 3–5+ years of experience building and maintaining financial systems.
- Strong understanding of financial transaction lifecycles, immutable records, idempotency, auditability, race conditions, and transaction consistency.
- Ability to prevent duplicate financial effects, inconsistent balances, and monetary inaccuracies caused by decimal precision or rounding errors.
- Advanced proficiency in PostgreSQL, including schema design, complex SQL, transaction management, isolation levels, locking, constraints, indexing, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS, particularly in deploying, securing, monitoring, and supporting backend applications.
- Experience developing and maintaining backend applications within a Microsoft technology environment.
- Practical experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding assistants for implementation, debugging, refactoring, and testing, with the ability to independently review and validate AI-generated code.
- Hands-on experience implementing AI/LLM or generative AI features within applications, beyond simply using AI coding assistants.
- Understanding of LLM integrations, including API consumption, output evaluation, failure handling, and data protection.
- Strong testing experience covering financial calculations, concurrent transactions, duplicate processing, reconciliation, integration failures, and recovery scenarios.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify business requirements, explain technical decisions, and communicate progress effectively.
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with Git-based version control platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.
- Experience with double-entry accounting, subledgers, settlement processes, bank statement ingestion, or financial closing workflows.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures, message queues, transactional outbox patterns, and replayable processing.
- Experience applying AI to financial workflows, such as reconciliation assistance, transaction exception classification, and financial document processing, with appropriate validation and approval mechanisms.
