About the Role
Do you want to build the tools that help shape investment decisions?
The Front Office Investments Technology team at T. Rowe Price is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help deliver the next generation of cloud-native applications used by investors.
You'll join the Portfolio Management Capabilities (PMC) team, where engineering sits alongside the investment process. The products you build will be used daily by investors to analyse portfolios, evaluate opportunities and make decisions.
This is a hands-on, full-lifecycle engineering role with significant ownership. You'll work directly with subject matter experts to understand problems, shape solutions, and design, build, test, deploy and support production software. You'll tackle complex business, data and technical challenges in a collaborative environment that values strong engineering, innovation and continuous improvement.
What You'll Be Working On
We are modernising how our investment teams work by building a new generation of front-office applications that bring together data, analytics and decision support in a unified experience.
You'll help deliver capabilities across the portfolio management lifecycle, from portfolio construction to implementation and monitoring. The work spans rich data-driven user interfaces, scalable cloud services, quantitative analytics and emerging AI-powered workflows.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Designing, building, testing, deploying and supporting software across the full development lifecycle.
- Developing front-end applications using TypeScript, React and Redux.
- Building back-end services using Java, Node.js and REST APIs.
- Developing analytics and data processing components using Python.
- Designing data models and working with relational and document databases.
- Writing automated unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and engineering best practices.
- Operating and monitoring services running in AWS.
- Participating in code reviews, design reviews and agile ceremonies.
- Supporting production releases and continuously improving platform reliability.
- Working closely with Portfolio Managers, Quants and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong software engineering skills in TypeScript/JavaScript, Java and Python.
- Experience with React, Redux and Node.js.
- Experience building Java services using frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of software design, API development and data modelling.
- Experience with automated testing and modern testing frameworks.
- Ability to take ownership of features from design through production.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS (ECS, RDS).
- Understanding of asset management and financial markets, ideally Equities, Fixed Income and Multi Asset.
- Exposure to portfolio construction, quantitative analytics or financial modelling.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or similar.
- Experience building AI-enabled applications, including LLM integrations, RAG, tool calling or agent-based workflows.
- Interest in applying AI to both software engineering and investment workflows.
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and engineering practices such as TDD and BDD.
- Experience with Material UI, ag-Grid and Cypress.
- Understanding of UX principles and application design patterns.
Why Join Us

We offer challenging, meaningful work, opportunities to learn and grow, and a collaborative culture that values diverse perspectives and continuous improvement. We recognise that great candidates may not meet every qualification listed above. If you're excited by the opportunity and believe your experience is relevant, we encourage you to apply
