About the role: The Senior Software Engineer must have a strong foundation in design, development, and implementation of cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, full-stack developer, capable of leading a team of experienced and junior developers. You will be comfortable in an Agile environment and will have experience with CI/CD. The chosen candidate must be comfortable with domain-driven design and event-driven architecture. You will need to bring a delivery mindset along with a hunger to learn and apply new technologies. About the Team: The Senior Software Engineer will be a senior member of the Solution Architecture/Development team supporting GM’s $8B/year Global Logistics business. We design and deliver secure, event-driven, cloud native application functionality which enables business strategy for a Fortune 10 company executing on a vision of a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. Additional Job Description Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in IT industry Must have at least 8+ years’ experience building enterprise applications with minimum 5 years using JAVA (SpringBoot) and Angular Experience with messaging architecture (MQ, Kafka) Experience with resilient application design and secure coding practices Experience in guiding a team of developers from project initiation through deployment Expertise in executing technical deep-dives on software design, code, and test artifacts Ability to convert business requirements into technical specifications and designs as well as estimate the amount of effort necessary Experience with various project and development methodologies (e.g. SAFe/Agile, TDD, BDD, etc.) Experience in developing automated unit and integration tests Experience with utilizing software development tools and best practices, i.e. Spring, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Jenkins, unit testing, code coverage, secure code analysis, performance tuning, refactoring/code smells, source code management, etc. Experience and deep understanding of logical and physical data modeling and relational database technologies Expertise leveraging Object Oriented Programming methodologies and design patterns including domain-driven design, microservices, cloud native (12 + 3 factor), service mesh and cloud design patterns. Hands-on experience using JAVA, REST, microservices, and containers (Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Docker and Kubernetes) CI/CD experience in defining and managing the build, deployment, and release pipelines Data modeling and database/query tuning expertise Preferred Qualifications: Scaled Agile experience Python development experience PostgreSQL experience Ability to learn new cloud patterns, technologies and domains quickly Experience with NoSQL databases, big data and message brokers like Kafka, Hadoop, Redis and Cassandra is a plus.
