We are looking for a Senior Software Test Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience in test automation with Playwright or comparable tooling in JavaScript/TypeScript, testing of cloud-based applications, and GenAI tooling for automation.
Responsibilities
- Design, own, and evolve the architecture of a test automation framework in JavaScript/TypeScript using Playwright or comparable tooling
- Define a balanced test strategy across API, contract, component, and end-to-end test levels
- Test cloud-based applications and services, including APIs, integrations, and cloud service dependencies
- Build scalable test execution using containerization, parallel execution, and sharding
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with clear reporting, traces, and actionable failure information
- Investigate flaky tests and identify root causes related to timing, test data, environment, and test isolation
- Use GenAI tools and agents to generate, maintain, and analyze automated tests, and review their output
- Define technical standards for test code, perform code reviews, and collaborate with developers to improve application testability
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software test automation
- Advanced, hands-on JavaScript/TypeScript skills gained through real project work, including async patterns, typing, and clean code practices
- Deep hands-on experience with Playwright or comparable tooling (e.g., Cypress, WebdriverIO), including fixtures, parallelism and sharding, network interception and mocking, authentication state handling, and trace analysis
- Proven experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks from the ground up
- Experience with API testing in code and familiarity with contract testing (e.g., Pact)
- Experience testing cloud-based applications and services hosted on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (e.g., APIs, serverless functions, queues, storage, and authentication services)
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
- Experience analyzing test results, application logs, traces, and failure patterns
- Strong Git skills and experience with code review workflows
- Hands-on experience using GenAI tools and agents for test automation, such as Playwright MCP, Playwright Test Agents, or AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor), including verifying AI output and recognizing when AI should not be used
Nice to have
Experience running test execution on cloud infrastructure such as AWS (e.g., CodeBuild, ECS/Fargate, Lambda), Azure, or GCP
