Meet Benevity
Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!
Benevity’s Technology Operations group builds and runs the systems our internal teams rely on every day. We’re looking for a Senior Solutions Developer to help turn business needs, useful scripts, and early prototypes into secure, reliable internal applications.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Applications, you’ll work directly with stakeholders to understand their workflows, assess options, and deliver practical solutions. You’ll own the technical lifecycle of internal tools, from assessment and implementation through hosting, access control, maintenance, and retirement. You’ll also contribute to the integrations that connect our business systems.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both solving business problems and making the technology work. You’ll have room to establish how we bring internal tools into supported operation, working closely with Security, DevOps, and IT. Good judgment about what to configure, integrate, buy, or build matters as much as the ability to write code.
What you’ll do
Work with business stakeholders to understand the problem, current process, users, and desired outcome. Challenge assumptions and evaluate existing capabilities before recommending a new solution.
Establish a practical path for useful prototypes and scripts to become supported internal tools. Assess business value, data sensitivity, support needs, and ownership before deciding what to keep, improve, migrate, or retire.
Read, debug, and improve code developed by others, including AI-assisted prototypes. Develop internal applications where needed, keeping solutions simple, documented, and maintainable.
Build and manage a dedicated AWS environment for internal applications, using managed and serverless services such as Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and API Gateway. Establish repeatable deployment, versioning, rollback, scheduling, and monitoring practices.
Implement appropriate authentication and authorization, integrating with Okta and working with Security on access standards. Manage secrets and credentials securely, apply least privilege, and protect sensitive business data.
Own ongoing application health: maintain an inventory and clear ownership records, resolve vulnerabilities against agreed timelines, manage dependencies and credential rotation, review access and costs, and carry out safe retirements.
Build and maintain API-based integrations between internal tools and systems such as Jira, Zendesk, NetSuite, and Salesforce. Contribute to reusable integration patterns and build working depth in Workato alongside our existing team.
Assess vendor-provided connectors and MCP capabilities before considering custom implementations. Use established solutions where they meet the need and make the case clearly when custom development is justified.
Partner with tool creators to make adoption straightforward. Document support and handover practices, share knowledge, and keep stakeholders informed about progress, risks, and application health.
What you’ll bring
6+ years of relevant experience in software development, business systems, integrations, or cloud engineering, with hands-on responsibility for applications or services running in production.
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, understand workflows, evaluate alternatives, and translate an ambiguous request into a practical solution.
Strong programming and debugging fundamentals, including the ability to understand and improve unfamiliar code.
Experience deploying and operating cloud applications using managed or serverless services. AWS experience is preferred; strong equivalent Azure or Google Cloud experience is welcome, with the ability to become productive in AWS.
Practical experience with secrets management, authentication, authorization, and secure API integrations. You understand how to protect sensitive data and manage credentials throughout an application’s lifecycle.
Sound delivery practices across source control, testing, environments, releases, rollback, monitoring, and documentation. You take responsibility for how a solution operates after launch.
Clear communication, initiative, and sound judgment about scope and complexity. You can explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical colleagues and recognize when an existing tool or process change is the better answer.
A degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Helpful experience
Workato or another enterprise integration platform, including workflow orchestration and ongoing integration support.
Okta, AWS secrets-management services, and experience hardening internal tools or AI-generated code for supported use.
Governed low-code tools, vendor connectors, or MCP integrations.
