About the PRI
The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.
The PRI’s three distinct capabilities relate to the core elements of the PRI’s approach to achieving a sustainable financial system.
- Translate RI (Responsible Investment) thought leadership into insights and practical support that is tailored to what signatories need to progress their RI practice
- Convene our vast network to create opportunities for collaborative action
- Harness our global scale to influence policymakers and regulators to effect system change
Job Description
Stewardship is one of the most powerful mechanisms by which investors and their agents can contribute to the achievement of the PRI’s mission: the creation of a sustainable financial system which benefits the environment and society as a whole. This remote position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to work that encourages and enables PRI signatories to fully realise the potential of stewardship to drive real-world outcomes on topics that are part of the broader nature and sustainability agendas.
The role will be primarily responsible for contributing to Spring, PRI’s collaborative stewardship initiative for nature. Spring addresses the systemic risks of biodiversity loss to protect the long-term interests of investors. Through this, the initiative aims to contribute to the global goal of halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030. Spring seeks to enhance corporate practices, ultimately generating positive, real-world outcomes, while protecting and enhancing investment returns. We also seek to support the work of other stewardship initiatives on nature, as we recognise the need for multiple approaches to create a sustainable future.
The primary responsibilities for this role include the coordination and support of ~10 investor-company engagement processes and to be a point person for all of Spring’s activities and recruitment efforts in the APAC region. Spring facilitates small groups of PRI signatories who in turn will use engagement and other stewardship tools to positively influence companies across a range of sectors to address forest loss, land degradation and other environmental issues.
The role reports to PRI’s Head of Stewardship, Nature and will involve extensive collaboration with the PRI colleagues working on Spring and other relevant PRI-led initiatives and with the regional relationship managers.
This position sits within the PRI’s Stewardship Initiatives team, which is responsible for facilitating collaborative investor engagement activities on key environmental, social and governance issues. The role includes secondary responsibilities to support other PRI-led stewardship initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
Coordination of ~10 Spring company engagement groups (CEGs)
- Support research and capacity building: share relevant resources, carry out company research, broker relationships with external experts as well as with other participants / groups.
- Support the preparation of high-quality investor-company engagement strategies.
- Chair Spring CEG meetings: organize and lead calls, send relevant reminders and agendas, track attendance, take and send notes & next steps.
- Act as an observer during investor-company engagements: Act as the representative of the initiative, take notes and provide general support to members of the company engagement group.
- Manage and track investor participation, including data and contact management, on- and offboarding of participants, participation and progress tracking, and providing support to maintain momentum.
Support the governance and strategy development of Spring
