About the role:

As a Senior AP1000 SRO Instructor, you will support licensed and non-licensed operator training for AP1000 reactors and may support operating-fleet and global customer needs. You will combine technical learning, operating experience, instructional development, and advanced plant design to strengthen safe plant operation and customer readiness.

You will report to the US AP1000 Training Manager and the US AP1000 Training Manager will base you at Westinghouse's Cranberry Woods headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The position is hybrid at the manager's discretion. It requires two to three days per week on-site, on average, or support multiple activities and needs, including qualification, training delivery, simulator activities, customers, and project needs. Classroom and simulator support may require extended on-site periods. Travel is approximately 25% and may include domestic and international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead assigned Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) analyses, complex initial and continuing training needs analyses, curriculum changes, implementation activities, and training effectiveness reviews.
  • Lead development and delivery of complex AP1000 plant systems, integrated operations, abnormal, emergency, and simulator-based training within assigned qualifications.
  • Use approved technical sources and comply with applicable review, traceability, and configuration-control requirements.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical and instructional issues using qualified technical support within assigned authority.·
  • Analyze operating experience, corrective actions, procedure changes, plant modifications, student performance, and program results to determine required training changes.
  • Perform qualified reviews of training products authored by Junior and AP1000 SRO Instructors and verify technical accuracy, instructional quality, approved-source traceability, configuration control, and implementation readiness.
  • Lead complex student remediation and improve instructional approaches based on observable performance evidence.
  • Mentor, coach, and observe Junior AP1000 SRO Instructors and AP1000 SRO Instructors using defined qualification and readiness criteria.
  • Lead identification, documentation, and analysis of assigned simulator issues and support testing, implementation, and verification of corrections within assigned qualification and authority.
  • Lead improvements to digital learning content, multimedia, video, models, simulator-based materials, and other instructional technologies.
  • Manage assigned curriculum areas and lead applicable program reviews, training-planning activities, training-committee support, and customer discussions.
  • Obtain and maintain assigned technical, instructor, simulator, site-access, security, customer, and AP1000 SRO Instructor qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology, education, or a related discipline; relevant U.S. Navy nuclear training and qualification; or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of applicable U.S. Navy or commercial nuclear plant, operations, commissioning, or licensed operator training experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical training, directing operator learning activities, or supporting nuclear qualification programs.
  • Apply approved sources, operating experience, and performance information to complex training decisions.
  • Experience reviewing training products, coach developing instructors, and lead assigned curriculum improvements.
  • Communicate technical information and collaborate with Training, Operations, Engineering, Simulator, Commissioning, customers, and other partners.
  • Obtain required nuclear power plant access, customer access, and assigned qualifications.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, including domestic and international travel.
  • Westinghouse is also interested in other qualifications that can include a current or previous NRC RO or SRO license. Alternatively, a commercial licensed operator instructor qualification is also acceptable. Additionally, a U.S. Navy nuclear supervisor or instructor qualification is another option. Simulator instructor experience is also a valid qualification. We also accept AP1000 plant, systems, operations, commissioning, or training experience lastly.
  • Experience mentoring instructors, leading curriculum improvements, integrating operating experience, or evaluating training effectiveness.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The estimate the base salary range for this position, which depends on experience, qualifications, and skills, to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
