Position Description
The Senior Staff Accountant will be a strategic thinker who exhibits a Christ-like servant leadership spirit while performing accounting functions for the AHG National Office. Assists the Controller in leading all financial operations of a $9+ million budget including leading functional responsibility for general ledger, payroll, inventory, tax reporting, financial reporting, month and year-end closing, audits, annual budget, and strategic relationships. The Senior Staff Accountant will assist in ensuring that AHG has the systems and procedures in place, are followed, to protect the ministry; assist in leading the daily accounting operations; and ensure all statutory requirements of the organization are met.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller in the daily accounting operations, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and statutory requirements of the organization are met
- Assist in maintaining all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate internal controls and policies, GAAP standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and record all general ledger entries (payroll, account adjustments, inventory journal entries, bank transactions, etc.)
- Support monthly and year-end close; prepare reconciliations for all funds, inventory, bank accounts, prepaid, AR, AP, payroll, and tax accounts, etc., ensuring accuracy of the general ledger
- Prepare monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports, forecasts, schedules, and audit requests/documentation
- Assist in preparation of the Annual Budget in coordination with the Controller and monitor monthly budget usage
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll, benefits, and 403(b) contributions. Compile financial and payroll data for reporting to outside companies as required
- Provide support for sales tax reporting requirements and customer exemptions
- Ensure inventory accounting accuracy from procurement to sales orders
- Attend daily prayer, weekly vision casting, and monthly Bible study.
- Adhere to all Employee Handbook policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Passion for serving God through the AHG Ministry.
- Agrees with and lives out AHG’s Statement of Faith; must exhibit and maintain a strong relationship with Christ and a positive faith attitude
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Three years of progressive, relevant financial responsibility and nonprofit fund accounting experience are preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Experience in Acumatica a plus
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- Customer service oriented.
- Must be detail-oriented and an effective communicator with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to, on occasion, walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.
