Senior Staff Software Engineer (M/F)

What you'll bring

You bring deep expertise in distributed systems and scalable data platforms. Your technical foundation and systems thinking equip you to build complex, high-performance infrastructure at cloud scale.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems design — concurrency, parallelization, consensus, scheduling, and resource management — applied in multithreaded production environments
• Hands-on experience building scalable microservices and high-throughput APIs for data processing platforms
• Proficiency in Java for production-grade software development
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes across private and public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Knowledge of distributed file systems — S3, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), or HDFS — and of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in database or data management platforms
• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

What you'll build

You will own the full development lifecycle — from design to production — of distributed systems that power SAP's database cloud platform.

• Design and build distributed data processing components: efficient protocols, locking and consensus, scheduling, auto-scaling, and self-healing
• Deliver scalability and performance through concurrency and parallelization in multithreaded, distributed environments
• Build and maintain scalable APIs with low-latency access to distributed storage
• Lead code and design reviews to uphold engineering quality and deepen system architecture knowledge across the team
• Drive team growth through hiring, coaching, and establishing engineering best practices
