AI Strategy Consultant Job Description An AI Strategy Consultant at Heller Consulting is expected to serve as an example of the firm's strategic and transformational philosophy when managing clients and projects and is expected to work on and take leadership roles in the firm's most complex and challenging Strategy projects involving artificial intelligence. This role sits at the intersection of nonprofit business strategy and applied AI, translating client needs into clear direction for both the client and Heller's engineering team. To be successful, an AI Strategy Consultant must have knowledge of nonprofit operations and experience with technology systems utilized by nonprofit and higher education sectors, combined with a strong and current understanding of the AI solutions landscape. Depending on the nature of the engagement, an AI Strategy Consultant may be asked to evaluate the suitability of existing and available AI solutions, analyze processes, identify gaps, confidently make recommendations for improvements or new solutions, facilitate decision-making, map out implementation plans, provide strategic leadership, and/or guide the client through inspirational, successful, and sustainable transformation enabled by AI. Responsibilities Project Work Perform work as assigned within the Strategy Practice as well as other Heller Consulting practice areas as needed, depending on skills and area(s) of expertise Effectively carry out the following client-facing tasks: Requirements gathering AI solution research Fit-gap analysis Change/implementation roadmap development Process mapping Facilitated decision-making Writing and delivering analyses and recommendations Strategic AI leadership Identify a client's business strategy and understand day-to-day operations to identify where AI, including Anthropic's tools and other AI solutions, can have the most strategic impact Evaluate and recommend specific Anthropic tools and other AI solutions suited to a client's needs, capacity, and goals Translate client requirements and desired outcomes into clear, well-organized written requirements that Heller's engineering team can use to build agents, bots, and other AI-enabled solutions Translate complex technical concepts, AI terminology, and engineering considerations into concise, clear, and direct language that non-technical clients and stakeholders can understand and act on Communication Communicate in a timely, clear, appropriate, and effective manner with clients, vendors, partners, and fellow project team members, ensuring all are informed of status of assigned tasks, next steps, and any emerging issues that could affect a project's timeline, scope, budget, or overall success Serve as a bridge between clients and Heller's engineering team, ensuring requirements are understood as intended and that technical constraints or trade-offs are communicated back to clients in plain language Ability to navigate obstacles such as client organizational culture, personality challenges with team and/or clients, and potential challenges with industry partners and product vendors to deliver on project objectives Advancement of Firm Priorities Actively contribute to and build Heller's knowledgebase, including AI solution research, use cases, and lessons learned Participate in, contribute to, and/or lead initiatives around Heller’s AI services and internal AI use-cases Continuously research the AI solutions market and stay current on news, trends, and developments related to the impact of AI on business and the nonprofit sector, so that recommendations to clients remain accurate and up to date Qualifications At least 5 years of relevant experience working in the nonprofit or higher education sector and experience in an AI-focused position Demonstrated knowledge of AI solutions and tools, including Anthropic's product suite, and a strong interest in staying current on the AI landscape Experience with technology selection and management Experience leading, planning, managing, and implementing change Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts and jargon into concise, clear, and direct language for non-technical audiences History of successfully managing work across multiple concurrent projects by consistently meeting deadlines, priorities, and client requirements while delivering high quality of work LOCATION: Remote, U.S. Some limited, company-funded travel may be required to attend annual staff activities, client on-sites, or other team meetings or conferences. WORKING HOURS: Our business operation requires employees to work in one of the four, continental U.S. time zones during regular, Mon-Fri business hours. Pay Range expected for the position: $125k-$145k annually.
