Senior Structural Engineer

HFA Structural is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer (SSE) to join our growing team. The SSE position would be responsible for leading and supervising structural teams in analysis and design efforts across a wide range of building and project types. An SSE would also serve as a technical expert and Engineer of Record (EOR) for projects. Applicant should have comprehensive experience managing, designing, and detailing structural systems utilizing concrete, steel, wood, cold-formed steel, and masonry and be a able to lead engineering teams through all phases of design and construction. Project team leadership, attention to detail, quality oriented, and comfort with client communication are crucial. SSE’s leadership can leverage developing staff through mentoring and deliver high-quality engineering solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements include but are not limited to:

• Engineer shall be a licensed (SE), preferably with the ability to become an SE in the state of California. NCEES record registration is a plus.

• Engineer shall have 10 to 20 years of comprehensive experience in managing projects, staff, clients and acting as EOR.

• Engineer will work with studio structural Team Leads to supervise the work of Junior level and other experienced Engineers and designers over many different client programs.

• Perform duties of the Engineer of Record for projects.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

• Training and mentoring employees on company standards, structural engineering analysis and design, and the constructability of structures.
• This is a technical role for one-off type structural designs, prototypical designs for national brands, new ground up structures, renovation of existing structures, analysis of distressed or damaged structures.

• Work in a collaborative environment with Structural Team Leads, Architects and other Engineers to develop Construction Documents and solutions based on a client’s requirements for all phases of a project.

• As the EOR, perform final quality control of projects.

• Have direct client contact as needed and review proposals and Technical communication as requested.

• Obtain licensure in all states HFA does work in.

Management Requirements: 0-5 staff as needed but this is strictly a technical position.
Education Requirements: Minimum BSCE/BSAE from an Abet Accredited Engineering Program. MSCE Preferred.
Licensure Requirements: Licensed Structural Engineer (SE)
