Position Overview

Fathom Management is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to support the FBI CJIS telecommunications environment.

The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on Linux system administration and AWS cloud infrastructure experience, with particular emphasis on AWS Connect and cloud-hosted telecommunications services. This position supports mission-critical communication infrastructure requiring high availability, security, monitoring, automation, and rapid incident response.

Candidates should be comfortable working in secure government cloud environments and independently supporting production infrastructure with minimal supervision.

Current Technical Architecture Experience

Candidates must demonstrate recent hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and telecommunications environments, including:

• AWS Connect administration and telecommunications workloads
• AWS GovCloud or comparable secure AWS environments
• Linux-based EC2 infrastructure
• AWS IAM, VPC, security groups, routing, and load balancing
• AWS S3 and cloud backup/recovery
• CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Splunk monitoring
• AWS Lex and Lambda integrations
• Contact Lens
• Infrastructure-as-Code using CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible
• System hardening, encryption, MFA, and cloud security controls
• DevSecOps and CI/CD environments

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered where applicable.

Experience

• 7+ years of Linux system administration experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on experience administering AWS infrastructure in enterprise or secure environments.
• Strong experience with AWS Connect operations and telecommunications workloads.
• Experience with AWS EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with AWS networking, including VPCs, routing tables, security groups, and load balancing.
• Hands-on Infrastructure-as-Code experience using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Experience supporting production infrastructure, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and incident response.
• Experience with secure backup and recovery processes.

Security & Cloud Operations

• Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
• Experience with system hardening, encryption, IAM, network security, and MFA.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP-aligned security controls.
• Experience supporting secure or regulated environments.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for service-impacting incidents.
• Strong troubleshooting and production operations skills.

Clearance & Location

• Active Secret clearance or higher required.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support cloud-native infrastructure powering FBI CJIS telecommunications systems.
• Provision, configure, monitor, patch, and troubleshoot Linux-based AWS infrastructure.
• Administer AWS Connect telecommunications workloads and maintain availability, security, and performance.
• Configure and support AWS Connect call flows and related services.
• Support AWS Lex and Lambda integrations where applicable.
• Monitor infrastructure using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Splunk.
• Diagnose and resolve production infrastructure and telecommunications issues.
• Implement system hardening, encryption, IAM roles, security groups, network policies, and MFA.
• Support VPC, routing, security group, and load-balancing configurations.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Support secure backup and recovery processes.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps activities.
• Maintain operational and technical documentation.
• Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies, including planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and system demonstrations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond rapidly to service-impacting incidents.
• Collaborate with developers, cloud engineers, security personnel, and government stakeholders.
