As a Senior System Support Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and improving our BMC Discovery service.

You’ll:

• be responsible for administering our BMC Discovery infrastructure, which includes appliances (clusters), consolidator, and outposts,
• monitor discovery activities, troubleshoot credential and connectivity issues across various technologies and ensure the reliability and accuracy of discovery processes,
• also develop, maintain, and enhance custom TPL patterns to support business and technical requirements,
• be driving data quality by identifying and resolving discovery gaps, data inconsistencies, and configuration issues to ensure our service is running smoothly and providing accurate and trustworthy data to our stakeholders.

Ready to embark on the journey? Here’s what we are looking for:  

• Experience working within large-scale enterprise IT environments.
• Previous exposure to BMC Discovery or ServiceNow Discovery (or another agentless discovery solution).
• Understanding of CMDB architecture, configuration management principles, and ITIL Foundation practices.
• Networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, ports and protocols, WMI, SSH, PowerShell, APIs, and HTTPS.
• Good knowledge of troubleshooting Linux and Windows servers.
• Experience with modern infrastructure technologies across on-premises, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• SQL, preferably with experience in Teradata or other enterprise database platforms.

Nice to have:

• Bash and PowerShell scripting for automation, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Python for automation, data processing, and operational tooling.

Hi, my name is Michal Krmencik and I’m a line manager within the Service Inventory Mangeemnt team (SIM). I started my career at DHL IT Services back in 2015, when I took a role as a System Support Specialist in the iQSonar team. As I gained more hands-on experience with IT Operations Management I then moved to the SIM team in 2023 where I became the owner and manager for the BMC Discovery service/team. We’re looking for a new colleague to join our team. If I could describe the ideal candidate I would say it’s someone who sits at the intersection between ITOM, Data Analysis, Infrastructure Engineering and Security. As a BMC Discovery admin you’ll be touching a lot of different technologies so it’s imperative you have a blend of deep technical platform knowledge and excellent cross-team communication skills. Together with the strong support of a multinational & diverse team, we are working on our common ambition – technology. Looking forward to having you onboard!
