About the Firm
Our client, Melissa Powers CPA and Associates, is a well-established CPA and accounting firm with a reputation built on technical excellence and genuine client service. The firm serves a broad client base and operates with a people-first culture that prioritizes clear expectations, sustainable workloads, and long-term investment in its professionals.
About the Role
This is a strong fit for someone early in their career who wants meaningful client ownership, a mix of return types, and the chance to stay sharp on the accounting side as well. You will lead preparation of individual and business returns, support bookkeeping and monthly accounting where needed, and grow into greater client and technical responsibility over time. If you take pride in your work, thrive in a collaborative environment, and are looking for a place to plant your flag long-term, we’d love for you to apply.
Responsibilities
-
Prepare federal and state returns for individuals and business entities, including 1040s, 1065s, 1120s, and 1120S
-
Research and resolve tax questions; escalate complex issues thoughtfully and document conclusions clearly
-
Perform or review bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and monthly accounting for a mix of clients so books are in order ahead of tax preparation
-
Process payroll and support related filings as needed
-
Serve as a primary contact for individuals and business owners on tax and accounting questions
-
Organize and review workpapers accurately and in line with firm standards
-
Manage a book of clients and competing deadlines, and jump in wherever the work is needed
-
Collaborate with the team, coach more junior staff when appropriate, and flag technical questions as they come up
Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
-
2 to 6 years of experience, preferably in public accounting
-
Strong background in tax preparation, with willingness to support accounting and bookkeeping work as needed
-
Solid understanding of tax and accounting principles
-
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
-
Coachable, flexible, and a genuine team player
-
CPA license or active progress toward CPA preferred
-
Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients
Benefits
-
Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience
-
401(k) with an employer match
-
Significant growth opportunity within a mission-driven, people-first firm
