Senior Technical Illustrator

The Senior Technical Illustrator is primarily responsible for checking quality against specification, for a variety of graphic types and projects. They will manage the quality of work on an on-going basis within timescale and quality parameters, to ensure that it meets the customer requirements. Driving a culture to deliver right first-time illustrations, they will consistently strive to improve delivery standards and exceed customer expectations . Research information from the relevant engine model files by interrogating customer specific model data . Works closely with the offshore Technical Illustrators to provide accurate illustration data and support as requested. Key Responsibilities Provides support and checks drafts and final deliverables. Research information on the relevant specifications by interrogating customer specific systems and data. Attends and contributes to client review meetings if required. Verifies the accuracy of other Technical Illustrator's deliverables and ensures the quality of their work before handoff to the writing team. Works closely with the offshore Technical Illustrators to provide accurate illustration files. Ensures deliverables are met for the Technical Authors and are reviewed at the designated time, according to the project schedule. Follows the designated process for handing off deliverables to the customer where required. Participates in the post-project review processes and ensures identified improvements are incorporated into subsequent projects. Helps Management craft a solution for unusual or different projects, based on industry experience. Shares technical knowledge and skills with other Technical Illustrations team members. Provides input and recommendations to management regarding project improvements, process improvements, organizational strategies and direction, new technologies and new tools. When appropriate, resolves project issues effectively and successfully with internal and customer project personnel. As necessary, escalates issues and risks according to the established escalation path. Proactively communicates with the Illustration Manager to remain informed about activities and responsibilities of the other members of the team, understanding the interdependencies of how their deliverables affect those of the Technical Writer. Works effectively with the customer, ensuring FSI are always represented in a positive light. Competency Design – Generates creative solutions. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Education/Experience Technical Illustration experience and competence in a related field. Previous working knowledge and experience of technical documentation. Strong working knowledge of the illustration industry quality assurance practices, principles and methodologies. Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, process descriptions, procedure manuals and related technical documentation. Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule format. Proficient in the use of Isodraw, Autotrol Technical Illustrator, and Viz Mock-up. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel Familiar with basic email and internet communications. Solving of practical problems. Good written and verbal communication skills. Is adaptable and has a proactive approach to work. Must be resourceful, confident and take initiative. Good time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain group focus. Ability to communicate effectively with clients and/or other FSI employees, within a diverse population. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, PTC IsoDraw, AutoTrol Tech Illustrator, and Viz Mock-up. Experience in AUTOcad, Adobe Illustrator, Coral Draw and Adobe Photoshop is desired but not essential.
