We’re at the forefront of a once in a generational change in the broadband industry. Join us as we innovate, help our customers reach their potential, and connect underserved communities with unrivaled digital experiences.
Our Enterprise Platform team aspires to be a leader by applying technology to power business strategies. We connect concepts with solutions to create value and efficiencies for our employees and customers. Our success is driven by our skilled and diverse team who are passionate about excellence, innovation, and agility.
As the Senior Salesforce Test Automation Engineer, you will lead the expansion of automated quality engineering across our Salesforce ecosystem, with primary ownership for establishing Cypress.io as a scalable, maintainable, and trusted enterprise test automation capability. You will combine hands-on automation engineering with technical leadership, partnering with developers, administrators, product owners, business analysts, release engineering, and quality engineers to improve release confidence, shorten feedback cycles, and reduce reliance on repetitive manual regression testing.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of a Cypress.io automation framework for Salesforce applications, Experience Cloud, integrated web applications, and critical end-to-end business processes.
- Define automation architecture, coding standards, repository structure, reusable commands, fixtures, test-data patterns, environment configuration, tagging, and reporting conventions that support maintainability and scale.
- Develop and maintain reliable automated suites for smoke, regression, integration, end-to-end, API, and selected component-testing scenarios, balancing UI coverage with faster API-based setup and validation where appropriate.
- Create a pragmatic automation roadmap that prioritizes high-risk, high-volume, and business-critical Salesforce journeys and converts the existing regression inventory into a sustainable Cypress test portfolio.
- Design resilient approaches for Salesforce-specific automation challenges, including dynamic Lightning DOM behavior, asynchronous processing, authentication, role-based access, complex data dependencies, integrations, and multi-environment execution.
- Integrate Cypress execution into CI/CD pipelines and release workflows, including pull-request validation, scheduled regression runs, pre-release quality gates, test result publishing, screenshots, videos, and failure diagnostics.
- Establish test observability and quality metrics such as automation coverage, pass rate, execution time, flaky-test rate, defect escape trends, failure causes, and manual effort avoided; use insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Build secure, repeatable test-data and credential-management practices across Salesforce sandboxes and connected systems, partnering with platform, security, and DevOps teams to protect sensitive information.
- Perform hands-on exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and release-readiness testing when automation is not yet available or when human judgment provides better coverage.
- Partner with product owners, business analysts, solution architects, developers, and administrators to make requirements testable and to strengthen acceptance criteria, negative scenarios, risk analysis, and definition-of-done standards.
- Troubleshoot failed tests and application defects, distinguish product issues from automation issues, document reproducible evidence, and collaborate with engineering teams through resolution.
- Review automation code, mentor quality engineers and developers, provide technical guidance, and promote engineering practices that treat automated tests as production-quality software.
- Evaluate Cypress.io capabilities, plugins, Cypress Cloud features, and AI-assisted test authoring; recommend adoption based on security, maintainability, cost, measurable value, and enterprise standards.
- Contribute to QA governance, release management, Agile ceremonies, test planning, risk reviews, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of software quality engineering and test automation experience, including 3+ years testing Salesforce solutions in complex enterprise environments.
- Advanced hands-on experience building and maintaining Cypress.io automation using JavaScript or TypeScript, with strong understanding of selectors, custom commands, fixtures, network interception, retries, asynchronous behavior, and test isolation.
- Demonstrated experience designing an automation framework or materially scaling an existing framework across teams, applications, or release trains.
- Strong Salesforce testing experience across Lightning Experience and one or more of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, CPQ/commerce, custom Apex and Lightning Web Components, integrations, or platform automation.
- Experience with API testing, including REST and GraphQL patterns, authentication, request/response validation, data setup, and combining API and UI tests.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and source-control workflows using tools such as GitHub or Bitbucket and pipeline technologies such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
- Experience with test management, defect lifecycle, and work-management tools such as Jira, Xray, Confluence, or equivalent.
- Experience developing quality strategies, risk-based test plans, automation backlogs, traceability, release-readiness assessments, and meaningful quality reporting in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience diagnosing flaky tests, improving suite performance, handling parallel execution, and maintaining reliable automation across multiple environments and data states.
Skills:
- Expert-level analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to isolate failures across the UI, Salesforce platform, APIs, integrations, test data, and automation framework.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, version control, code review, debugging, documentation, and maintainable test-code practices.
- Ability to translate business processes and technical architecture into clear, risk-based automated test coverage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain quality risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership through influence, mentorship, collaboration, and ownership of cross-team outcomes.
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and balance immediate release needs with long-term automation health.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I, or relevant Salesforce Consultant certification.
- Cypress certification, recognized test automation certification, or equivalent evidence of deep Cypress expertise.
- Experience with Cypress Cloud capabilities such as recorded runs, test replay, analytics, flaky-test insights, parallelization, and enterprise reporting.
- Experience with Okta or SSO-enabled test authentication and secure automated credential management.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing, performance testing, AI-assisted test generation, and complementary tools such as Postman, SoapUI, Selenium, Playwright, or Jest.
- Experience modernizing or migrating an automation portfolio from a commercial or legacy testing platform to Cypress.io.
What Success Looks Like:
- Cypress.io is established as a governed, secure, and reusable automation capability for Salesforce delivery.
- Critical business journeys have reliable automated coverage and provide fast, actionable feedback before releases.
- CI/CD pipelines consistently execute the right tests at the right stage, with clear evidence for failures and release decisions.
- Flaky tests, duplicated effort, and manual regression time decline as framework quality, test data, and team adoption improve.
- Developers and quality engineers contribute to a shared automation codebase using consistent standards and effective code reviews.
- Quality metrics clearly communicate risk, progress, and business value to engineering and leadership stakeholders.
Why Join Us?
