We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Treasury Officer to join our Finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing over £500 million of public funds, helping to ensure resources are invested wisely and available to support the services, programmes and ambitions that make a difference across South Yorkshire.

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you'll help shape and deliver effective treasury management across SYMCA and the Police Fund. You'll work with finance colleagues, auditors and stakeholders to ensure strong financial stewardship, informed decision-making and robust governance.

In this role, you will:
  • Monitor and manage daily cash positions, helping to maximise investment returns while ensuring sufficient funds are available to support operational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain cashflow forecasts that support strategic planning, investment decisions and long-term financial resilience.
  • Oversee investments and borrowing activities in line with treasury strategies, regulations and approved limits.
  • Prepare treasury information, performance indicators and reports that inform senior leaders, committees and governance boards.
  • Perform regular monthly reconciliations on investment and loan balances and interest received and paid
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by strengthening treasury processes, controls and audit readiness across the organisation.

About you

You'll be a finance professional who enjoys combining analytical thinking with practical delivery. You'll take pride in managing complex financial information, building trusted relationships and ensuring public funds are managed responsibly and effectively.

You'll bring:
  • Experience of working within a finance environment, with the confidence to manage complex financial information accurately and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, enabling you to identify insights, manage risk and support informed decision-making.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, translating technical information into practical advice for a range of audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver high-quality work to challenging deadlines.
  • A love of working collaboratively, using initiative and professional judgement to help deliver excellent financial governance and outcomes.
