The Senior UX Designer is the design authority on the software teams they support. They work directly with product and engineering to create experiences people actually want to use — grounded in user research, usability testing, and a strong point of view about craft. Senior designers at World Wide Technology (WWT) are expected to move fast: designing in Figma against our Blue Steel design system, using agentic coding tools to build working interactive prototypes rather than stopping at static mockups, and setting the standard for UX and UI quality across web and mobile. What you will do Lead the design practice Act as the authoritative voice on UX and UI for the software projects you support, across web, mobile, desktop, internet and intranet platforms. Set direction for user-centered design activities — usability studies, personas, journey maps, concept testing — and coach teams on running them well. Analyze research results and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams, connecting design decisions to user and business outcomes. Mentor other designers, run critiques, and raise the bar on craft across the team. Develop and evangelize UX best practices, and make sure they land in the products we build. Keep the UX team ahead of product needs, finding new ways to support a constantly evolving set of requirements. Build, not just design Use agentic coding tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to build functional, interactive UI prototypes that teams can click through, test with users, and hand to engineering. Move from concept to wireframe to working prototype, gathering feedback from peers, developers and stakeholders along the way. Read and reason about front-end code well enough to make realistic design decisions, scope trade-offs with engineers, and produce prototypes that reflect what will actually ship. Contribute to and help maintain the corporate design system used across platforms, including its coded components. Design within the system Design within WWT’s Blue Steel design system by default — reuse existing components, patterns and tokens before creating anything new, and make sure what you ship is consistent with the rest of the portfolio. Know when a new component is genuinely needed, and contribute it back to the system properly: documented, accessible, tokenized and ready for engineering to consume. Work fluently with Figma libraries, components, variants, auto layout and variables so designs stay maintainable as they scale across web and mobile. Partner with engineering to keep the design system and the coded component library in sync, so what is designed and what is built stay the same thing. Advocate for system adoption across teams, and help other designers work within it rather than around it. Tools you will use Figma — the primary design environment: high-fidelity UI, component libraries, variables, prototyping, and FigJam for workshops, journey maps and collaborative sense-making. Adobe Creative Cloud — Illustrator, Photoshop for illustration, imagery and work that sits outside Figma. Agentic coding tools (ie. Claude Code) — to move from Figma to a running prototype quickly. Research and analytics tools — for usability testing, session review and behavioral data that informs design decisions. You do not need to have used every tool on this list, but you should be highly proficient in Figma and able to pick up the rest fast. Deliver quality work Participate in design, analysis and testing of software in an environment that uses both custom-developed and third-party purchased tools. Apply in-depth knowledge of WCAG and accessibility guidelines and standards from the first sketch, not as a final check. Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on brand, and stay invested in a project until completion. Prepare rough drafts, present ideas early, and share work in progress. Maintain proficiency with the design and research software used at WWT, including Figma and Adobe tools. Produce design files that other people can pick up — well-structured, named, and built from shared components. What we expect from you Be self-motivated: ask questions and find creative solutions to business problems. Deliver work on time and meet deadlines. Enjoy collaboration, with a preference for face-to-face communication, and be open to giving and receiving feedback. Take complex ideas and communicate them clearly and concisely. Distill ambiguous customer requests into concrete requirements. Display leadership qualities — influence without authority, and represent design in rooms where decisions get made. Exhibit a passion for design and learn continually, including staying current with AI-assisted design and development tooling. Communicate with excellent presentation and public speaking skills, and advocate clearly for the user experience.
