About SafelyYou
SafelyYou’s passionate mission is to empower safer, more person-centered care across senior living through world-leading AI, industry-changing hardware, and remote expert clinicians, significantly improving outcomes for residents while increasing peace of mind for families and reducing costs for communities.
Originating in 2015 as the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher—and inspired by his own family's experience with Alzheimer's disease—SafelyYou was spun out of UC Berkeley’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the top five AI research groups in the world. And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.
SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.
Your Role at SafelyYou
Our users are time-starved care staff and customer success managers who need to get in, get their work done, and get out. You'll design for clarity, speed, and task completion across our web and mobile apps and, increasingly, for how SafelyYou insights and alerts appear inside partner systems such as EHRs and eCall.
You'll be our Senior UX designer, co-creating continuously with engineering rather than designing in a vacuum and handing off. It isn't a blank slate: there are existing apps and constraints, and real room to shape the standards that come next.
Key Responsibilities:
The Numbers You'll Own
A shared system. A Figma library and consistent patterns used across teams within the next year.
Research as routine. Usability testing with care staff happening regularly, not occasionally.
Simpler workflows. Measurable improvement in key workflows.
What You'll Own
End-to-end design: discovery, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and specs across web and mobile.
Two audiences: simple, action-oriented interfaces for customer-facing staff and internal clinicians.
Alerts and notifications in our apps and partner systems, with clarity and urgency suited to care settings.
Reporting views that make data actionable.
Usability research with caregivers and customers, coordinated through Customer Success and our clinical team.
Standards: UX patterns and a shared library, with design priorities set alongside the PMs you support.
The Ideal Candidate:
The hard requirement: proven work as an embedded partner to engineering in B2B or enterprise products, not agency-style handoffs.
5+years of UX design, with a web and mobile portfolio.
Figma expertise.
A pragmatic approach: you design for people who didn't choose to be technology users, optimizing for task clarity and speed.
Systems literacy (no coding required) and comfort prioritizing across several teams.
Strongly preferred: healthcare or regulated industries, analytics design, or alerting in time-critical settings.
Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000 USD / $140,000 - $160,000 CAD, commensurate with experience
