SVP, Health

About Us

At Edelman Health, we believe Health is everyone’s business. Our goal is to help our clients confidently rise to the challenges of our changing world. We believe Health is beyond purely physician – rather, it’s everything from self-care to prevention, diagnosis to caregiving to finding cures. We challenge our colleagues and clients alike to embrace the new demands of a wider set of stakeholders and to act boldly to earn and keep their Trust.

We are seeking a Senior Vice President to serve as a senior strategic leader, driving high-impact healthcare communications programs and fostering client relationships at the executive level. This role requires deep healthcare expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a strong track record of managing large accounts, teams, and business growth initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor to clients, a mentor to internal teams, and a key driver of business expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a high-level strategic advisor to senior client stakeholders, offering expert counsel on complex healthcare communications challenges.
  • Oversee the development and execution of high-impact, integrated communications strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively identify innovative solutions and opportunities for account growth.
  • Stay ahead of healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes to inform client recommendations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence across client accounts.
  • Ensure strong financial stewardship of accounts, optimizing budgets, resource allocation, and profitability.
  • Drive organic growth opportunities within existing client relationships by identifying new areas of engagement.
  • Lead new business pitches and proposals, contributing to the agency’s healthcare portfolio expansion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders to enhance the agency’s presence in the healthcare space.
  • Mentor and coach mid- and senior-level team members, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Champion a diverse, inclusive, and high-performance team environment.
  • Connection is central to how we support each other and advise clients. Being together in the workplace strengthens our Culture, Community, and Collaboration. Show your commitment to our shared values by actively contributing to a strong, inclusive culture in all interactions.
  • Embrace and engage with Edelman’s local market communities—they’re a core part of the Edelman experience. Active participation is expected of all colleagues and adds to the richness of the unique Edelman culture.
  • Model collaborative behavior that encourages teams to build relationships beyond their immediate group, engaging individuals and teams across our network. Our strength lies in uniting diverse expertise—crisis and creative, public affairs and brand—to share insights, ideas, and learnings across practices. This begins with cultivating strong connections across skillsets, perspectives, and levels.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of health communications experience (agency or in-house preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in executive-level client counsel, account management, and strategic communications leadership.
  • Proven success in business development and account growth within the healthcare sector.
  • Strong team leadership and mentorship skills, with experience managing large, high-performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, including regulatory considerations and evolving market trends.
  • Expertise in developing integrated, multi-channel communications campaigns across earned, owned, and paid media.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, integrated agency environment and drive results.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in leveraging AI tools to enhance communication strategies, optimize content creation, and drive more personalized, data-informed engagement across channels.
