Senior VMware Engineer

Senior VMware Engineer - UK | Home-Based | Permanent

We're working with an established UK technology services business that's looking to strengthen its Cloud & Platform Engineering team with an experienced Senior VMware Engineer.

This is a hands-on engineering role, working across VMware, private cloud technologies, Kubernetes and automation, helping build and develop the platforms that support a wide range of business-critical services.

Rather than focusing on traditional infrastructure support or BAU activities, you'll be involved in developing cloud platforms, implementing new capabilities, improving automation and solving complex technical challenges.

You'll work closely with Architects and other Engineers, taking ownership of technical delivery and helping shape how infrastructure platforms are built, managed and improved.

What we're looking for:

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter
• Experience working with private cloud, virtualisation or enterprise infrastructure platforms
• Good understanding of VMware networking and storage, ideally including vSAN or NSX
• Exposure to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) or similar private cloud technologies
• Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code, using tools such as Terraform, PowerShell or similar
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, containers or modern cloud platform technologies
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking and virtualisation
• Experience working within a Managed Services, Cloud Services or enterprise infrastructure environment
• Confidence taking ownership of technical engineering work and supporting other engineers

The opportunity

You'll be joining a team responsible for developing and improving the technology behind modern private cloud services.

There's plenty of variety across VMware, cloud infrastructure and automation, with the opportunity to work on new platform capabilities, improve existing environments and contribute to technical decisions.

Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, VCF 9+, VMware Cloud Director or Kubernetes would be particularly interesting, although you don't need to have worked across every technology.

If you're a Senior VMware Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Platform Engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to move further into cloud platform engineering, I'd be keen to speak.
