Apply Job Type Full-time Description Background check, US Citizenship. and drug screening are requirements of this position. Travel is 15%. Salary: $80,000 to $120,000 a year based on experience. The Senior Waterfront Engineering & Production Integration Lead serves as TMMG's senior on-site engineering representative supporting TOTE Services throughout the design maturation, production planning, construction, equipment integration, testing, and vessel delivery phases of the LSM VCM Program. This position bridges the gap between the design agent, shipbuilder, equipment vendors, ABS, the Program Management Office, production trades, and the customer to ensure engineering decisions are translated into efficient, executable ship construction. Unlike a traditional design engineer, this individual is responsible for ensuring that engineering documentation, vendor information, equipment selections, production methods, and installation sequencing are technically correct, constructible, producible, and aligned with schedule objectives before work reaches the waterfront. The position focuses on proactively identifying technical risks, preventing engineering rework, reducing production disruptions, and ensuring successful integration of all shipboard systems from engineering through testing and delivery. This individual serves as one of TMMG's principal technical advisors supporting TOTE's LSM VCM Program. Requirements Job Requirements The successful candidate shall possess a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution. A Professional Engineer (PE) license or advanced technical certifications are desirable but not required. Candidates with equivalent military engineering experience or extensive shipyard leadership experience may be considered in lieu of portions of the educational requirements. The candidate shall possess a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience supporting U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command (MSC), commercial shipbuilding, ship repair, vessel modernization, or complex marine engineering programs. Demonstrated experience supporting new construction programs from engineering through vessel delivery is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have significant waterfront engineering experience and a thorough understanding of the relationship between engineering, production, planning, testing, commissioning, and shipyard execution. Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience reviewing engineering drawings, production drawings, technical specifications, shipbuilding standards, contract requirements, vendor technical documentation, equipment submittals, interface control documents, and installation packages. Experience identifying engineering deficiencies, constructability issues, production conflicts, and installation risks before they impact construction schedules is essential. The ability to evaluate engineering changes, assess technical impacts, and develop practical solutions that minimize production disruptions is a critical requirement. The successful candidate shall possess a comprehensive understanding of shipboard mechanical, electrical, structural, piping, HVAC, propulsion, auxiliary, damage control, mission support, and integrated ship systems. Experience coordinating engineering activities with production, manufacturing, planning, quality assurance, testing, supply chain, configuration management, and customer representatives is required. Candidates must be capable of serving as the primary technical liaison between engineering organizations, shipyard production teams, equipment manufacturers, classification societies, and government stakeholders. The candidate should possess demonstrated experience supporting vendor management activities, including review of technical proposals, vendor drawing packages, equipment installation requirements, technical comment resolution, engineering clarifications, and equipment integration. Experience supporting cross-standard equipment selection, lifecycle support considerations, logistics commonality, and integrated logistics support (ILS) initiatives is highly desirable. Working knowledge of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Rules, U.S. Coast Guard regulations, SOLAS, IMO requirements, NAVSEA standards, military specifications, and commercial shipbuilding practices is preferred. Candidates should have experience supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT), Builder's Trials, Dock Trials, Integrated Testing, Sea Trials, and vessel delivery activities. Familiarity with engineering dependencies, test prerequisites, deficiency resolution, and commissioning processes is expected. The successful candidate must possess strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary technical discussions, resolve complex engineering and production issues, facilitate decision-making, and build collaborative relationships across engineering, production, vendor, and customer organizations. Experience preparing executive-level technical reports, engineering assessments, shipcheck reports, production readiness reviews, risk registers, lessons learned, technical memorandums, and engineering recommendations is required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with engineering document management systems, configuration management processes, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), engineering change management, Requests for Information (RFIs), Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), root cause analysis, and production risk management processes. Experience working with shipbuilding design tools such as AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, FORAN, CADMATIC, AVEVA Marine, or similar marine engineering software is desirable but not mandatory. The position requires the ability to routinely board vessels under construction, conduct shipchecks throughout active shipyards, climb ladders and scaffolding, access confined spaces, work safely in machinery spaces and industrial environments, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and perform field inspections in varying weather and operational conditions. The successful candidate must be willing to travel approximately 25–35% of the time to shipyards, vendor facilities, and customer locations, including extended on-site assignments during critical engineering, construction, testing, commissioning, and vessel delivery milestones. The candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining any required government security clearance and must demonstrate the professionalism, technical judgment, and customer-focused leadership expected of a senior engineering representative supporting TOTE Services on the LSM VCM Program. Demonstrated waterfront engineering experience. Experience supporting shipyard production. Experience performing shipchecks. Experience reviewing engineering drawings. Experience supporting equipment installation. Experience supporting construction issue resolution. Experience working directly with production personnel. Physical Job Requirements Routinely board vessels under construction. Climb ladders and staging. Work in confined spaces. Walk active shipyards daily. Lift up to 40 pounds. Wear all required PPE. Work in indoor and outdoor environments. Travel between shipyards, vendor facilities, and customer locations as required. Education/Certification Requirements Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 10 years supporting shipbuilding, ship repair, vessel modernization, or marine engineering. Salary Description $80,000 to $120,000 per year
