Senior YouTube Podcast Editor — Retention & Storytelling

Full-Time | Remote | RELEARN

About RELEARN

RELEARN is a podcast and media company on a mission to positively impact one billion lives by helping people unlearn limiting beliefs and relearn better ways of living.

Hosted by Kash Rupareliaa, a former monk turned media entrepreneur, the show features in-depth conversations with founders, athletes, thinkers and healers, exploring health, mindset, relationships, money and personal transformation.

We publish weekly long-form episodes on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, supported by short-form content and a newsletter. Our partners include brands such as Mindvalley.

We're building a world-class podcast, and we're looking for someone exceptional to own the editorial quality and audience retention of every episode.

The Role

We're not looking for someone who simply edits podcasts. We're looking for someone who knows how to make people watch them.

You'll take ownership of transforming raw, long-form conversations into exceptionally engaging, beautifully produced YouTube episodes.

This goes far beyond cutting pauses, switching camera angles, cleaning audio and adding graphics.

We're looking for an editor who understands audience psychology, storytelling, pacing and YouTube retention — someone who can identify what makes a conversation compelling, restructure it where necessary, and elevate both the viewing experience and production quality.

You'll have the creative freedom and responsibility to make meaningful editorial decisions, not simply execute instructions.

What You'll Own

1. Audience Retention & Storytelling

  • Review raw conversations and identify the strongest stories, insights, emotional moments and hooks.
  • Restructure conversations when necessary to improve narrative flow, pacing and audience engagement.
  • Build compelling opening sequences that create immediate curiosity and give viewers a reason to stay.
  • Identify and remove sections that weaken momentum without compromising the depth or authenticity of the conversation.
  • Use storytelling, tension, curiosity and thoughtful pacing to maintain engagement throughout long-form episodes.
  • Understand the difference between an interesting conversation and a compelling viewing experience.

2. Premium Production Quality

  • Own the complete post-production process, from raw footage to final delivery.
  • Deliver exceptionally polished multicamera podcast episodes with professional audio, colour grading, graphics, transitions and visual consistency.
  • Use B-roll, visual storytelling and motion graphics where they genuinely enhance the viewer experience.
  • Maintain the high-end production standards expected of leading global YouTube podcasts.
  • Continuously improve the visual and auditory identity of RELEARN.

3. YouTube Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse YouTube audience retention graphs, including opening drop-offs, retention dips and rewatch spikes.
  • Identify what editorial decisions may have contributed to strong or weak performance.
  • Apply these insights to future episodes and experiment with new editorial approaches.
  • Collaborate with the host and production team on hooks, episode structure and content improvements.
  • Take proactive ownership of improving retention, rather than waiting for feedback or instructions.

4. Editorial Ownership & Delivery

  • Independently make strong editorial decisions about what stays, what goes and what should be repositioned.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve episodes before presenting them for review.
  • Own deadlines, version control, quality assurance and final delivery.
  • Maintain efficient workflows and organised project files.
  • Help develop repeatable editorial standards as the show grows.

Who We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience editing long-form YouTube podcasts, interviews or documentary-style content, ideally episodes of 90–120+ minutes.
  • Demonstrable experience making substantive editorial decisions to improve storytelling, pacing and viewer retention.
  • Experience reviewing YouTube audience retention analytics and applying the insights to future edits.
  • A strong portfolio of professionally produced long-form content, with the ability to explain your specific contribution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or equivalent professional editing software.
  • Excellent audio post-production, colour grading and multicamera editing capabilities.
  • Strong storytelling instincts, attention to detail and an exceptional standard of creative execution.
  • Highly organised, proactive and capable of independently owning episodes from start to finish.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • You've worked on established YouTube podcasts with significant viewership.
  • You can show before-and-after examples where your restructuring or editing materially improved an episode.
  • You can demonstrate how you've used retention analytics to change your editorial decisions.
  • You have experience editing psychology, personal development, business, health or educational podcasts.
  • You regularly study the editorial techniques of leading YouTube podcasts and can explain what makes their episodes work.
This Role Is NOT For You If
  • Your experience is primarily cutting silences, switching cameras, adding captions or producing short-form clips.
  • You need someone else to tell you which sections to remove, restructure or highlight.
  • You haven't worked with long-form storytelling or audience retention.
  • You prioritise flashy editing over clarity, substance and audience engagement.
  • You're comfortable delivering technically correct edits without questioning whether the episode could be significantly better.
How to Apply

Please include:

  1. Your three strongest long-form YouTube episodes that you personally edited, including links.
  2. A brief explanation of the editorial decisions you made to improve storytelling, pacing or retention.
  3. One example of how you used YouTube audience retention data to improve an episode or inform a subsequent edit.
  4. Send via linkedin DM

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate both exceptional editing craftsmanship and the editorial judgement to make a great conversation genuinely compelling.

  • We value proven results and ownership over years of experience or software certifications.
