Job Description

Job Summary:

As part of our development engineering expansion footprint, we are hiring for a few Senior/ Firmware System Engineer to be part of our global Power Motion Business (PMB) development organisation in the Singapore Campus.

We require a good background in embedded firmware development and real-time control systems. This professional would participate in the design of embedded firmware subsystems. These subsystems would optimize and balance a variety of goals, including run-time performance, memory requirements, simplicity, and correctness. They would also balance development time and effort goals, reusability, extendibility, reliability, security, and safety. This firmware engineer would need to maximise the reuse of existing internal or external firmware components, frameworks, real time operating system services, middleware and device drivers to shorten the product development cycle. This includes reviews of the subsystem and system design of others for system design possible effects.

You will report to the Firmware Security Manager, will work in hybrid, based in Singapore Office.



Your Responsibilities:

  • Design embedded firmware solutions for industrial automation products.
  • Design and implement firmware subsystems that increase performance, memory use, reliability, maintainability, security, and scalability.
  • Develop firmware using modern firmware engineering practices and coding standards.
  • Participate in firmware architecture, design reviews, and technical discussions to ensure solutions.
  • Develop unit tests, integration tests, and system verification activities.
  • Create quality through requirements traceability, design validation, and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Investigate and resolve firmware defects, customer-reported issues, and field anomalies.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, quality, cybersecurity, and product management teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Help engineer best practices, development processes, coding guidelines, and firmware quality programs.
  • Support cybersecurity-by-design practices and secure firmware development activities.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projects.
  • Function within a globally distributed team environment as both an individual contributor and technical leader.
  • Stay current with new embedded technologies, industry standards, and cybersecurity practices relevant to industrial products.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering processes.


The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with concentration in Firmware; or equivalent.
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years' experience in embedded system firmware development with an emphasis on the analysis, design, programming, and testing of real-time Firmware systems and device drivers development using modern engineering practices using the C/C++ language (or other middle to high-level language), python and scripting languages required. Candidates with more than 5 years' experience in the embedded system firmware and device drivers development area might be offered Senior Engineer position.
  • Green Hills Integrity OS and Multi IDE, TCP/IP networking, Git or similar version control tools to create CI/CD Pipelines, and collaboration tools such as Jira and Jama.


The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Master of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience.
  • Familiarity with the following tools and languages is desired. These include Python.
  • Familiarity with agile processes like Scrum and SAFe is desired.
  • Familiarity with CIP and CIP Security protocols.
  • Familiarity with real time operating system is required. FreeRTOS or Zephyr is preferrable.
  • Experience specifying and developing high quality, maintainable Firmware subsystems or systems at a high rate of productivity required.
  • Well established ability to organize and direct activities of other employees and communicate with a globally distributed team is required.
  • collaborator in a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrate customer centric culture to understand our internal and external customers.
