Is this job info correct?

Are you ready to be a technology leader in the SaaS space? Join epilot!

We are looking for product minded engineers not only coders. We're seeking builders who bridge technical expertise with product strategy. If you're passionate about impactful software, apply now! (Learn more about our understanding of being a product engineer here)

epilot is building a SaaS product to sell complex products online, focusing on solving ecommerce in the rapidly transforming energy market. Our mission: Make selling complex energy products as easy as selling a pair of shoes online.

As Software Engineer at epilot you will be a driving force in shaping this mission. What makes working as a Software Engineer at epilot so special? Our unique engineering culture is defined by a few core engineering principles.

We "epilots" are a team of experts from the fields of software development, energy management, product management and sales. In order to bring our solution even faster to the top in the energy world, we are looking for you as a Senior Product Engineer (Full Stack).

What awaits you

As a Product Engineer at epilot, you’ll go beyond just coding. You’ll play an integral role in building our cutting-edge platform using technologies like TypeScript, React, Svelte, and serverless AWS microservices. Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Immerse yourself in our tech stack: Microfrontends, serverless AWS, and best-in-class developer tooling and automation. Learn more here: docs.epilot.io

  • Be part of a cross-functional dream team: Collaborate with full-stack, backend, and frontend developers, designers, and product managers to deliver impactful features.

  • Work end-to-end: From ideation to delivery, you’ll team up with product management and design to bring features to life and make product decisions.

  • Take ownership: Got an idea? Draft an RFC (Request for Comment), drive the initiative, and own it from start to finish.

  • Foster growth: Mentor colleagues, share knowledge, and continuously learn new technologies.

  • Innovate with agility: Participate in diverse, exciting development projects, leveraging pair programming and agile methodologies.

What you bring

We’re looking for a Product-Minded Engineer who resonates with our values and has the following skills and mindset:

  • Product Thinking: You care about delivering value to customers and users, not just writing code.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Hands-on experience with React or other JavaScript frameworks.

    • Knowledge of RESTful APIs or GraphQL.

    • Familiarity with microservices architecture and public/private cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

    • Basic understanding of application and cloud security principles, and how to build secure, reliable software.

  • Ownership Mentality: You take initiative, drive features to completion, and thrive on responsibility.

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: You think like a business owner, understanding how your work impacts our goals.

  • Problem-Solver: You see challenges as opportunities for growth.

  • Collaborative Mindset: You’re a true team player who motivates and inspires those around you.

  • Agile Know-How: You’re familiar with methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, or XP and understand how to apply them effectively.

What we offer you

At epilot, we believe in rewarding performance, fostering growth, and creating an environment where you’ll thrive:

  • Impactful Work: Be part of a product-driven company that’s reshaping the energy sector.

  • Startup Mentality: Enjoy a dynamic atmosphere with flat hierarchies and open communication.

  • Flexibility: Work remotely or from our centrally located office in Cologne, with flexible working hours.

  • Growth Opportunities: Your career will grow as fast as we do. Learn, experiment, and embrace a “Fail Fast and Often” mentality.

  • Competitive Compensation: We take your desired salary seriously and value performance.

  • Team Spirit: Join us for regular events like summer parties, company breakfasts, and our epic annual epilot summit, where you’ll connect with co-epilots worldwide.

  • Transparency and Openness: Everything is open for discussion in our inclusive and supportive culture.

What to/we expect in your first 180days

-read full version: here-

By Week 1 you will:

  • Pair with a colleague and ship something. Small is fine, working is the point

  • Start learning the business: who our customers are, what we're building toward, why it matters

  • Connect with the team and empower the team

By Month 1 you will:

  • Own a topic: have your name on a topic, be the main driver of that topic from refinement to delivery. Already shipping the first iteration of it

  • Have a good understanding of the codebase and how our services connect

  • Know enough about our customers and domain to push back on bad ideas, including ours

By Month 3-6 you will:

  • Be the undisputed owner of your domain: the go-to person, the one who spots problems before they're reported and fixes them before they're assigned

  • Have shipped something that visibly moved a metric: adoption, reliability, performance, or revenue

  • Operate fully autonomously. You know when to decide and when to align

  • Raise the bar for the people around you, you push us forward, you are a multiplier. Not just through your own work, but through your reviews, your feedback, and how you onboard whoever we hire after you

We welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability, or sexual orientation!

Check out our promise to you: promise.epilot.cloud

P.S.: If you want to learn more about the application process, please read Eka's blog article: How to get hired at epilot
