Role Description The SEO Director is a full-time, hybrid role based in Sydney, Australia, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role is responsible for leading the overall SEO strategy, including technical SEO, on-page and off-page optimization, and content direction to drive organic growth across client portfolios. The SEO Director will oversee keyword research, market and competitor analysis, site audits, and performance tracking, translating insights into actionable optimization roadmaps. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing SEO projects end-to-end, collaborating closely with content, performance marketing, data, and creative teams, and presenting findings and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders. The role also involves mentoring and guiding SEO specialists, defining best practices, and continuously testing new approaches to keep Segments at the forefront of search innovation.


Qualifications

  • Strong Market Research and Research skills to analyze audiences, competitors, and industry trends and translate insights into effective SEO strategies.
  • Solid Project Management capabilities to plan, prioritize, and execute complex SEO initiatives across multiple clients and stakeholders.
  • Advanced Web Analytics skills, including hands-on experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other SEO platforms to monitor performance and optimize campaigns.
  • Robust Marketing experience, particularly in performance and growth marketing, with a clear understanding of how SEO integrates with broader digital channels.
  • Proven experience in a senior or lead SEO role, ideally within an agency or high-growth environment, with a track record of delivering measurable organic growth.
  • Deep understanding of technical SEO, site architecture, schema, page speed optimization, and best practices for search-friendly development.
  • Ability to communicate complex SEO concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and to present strategic recommendations confidently.
  • Experience managing and developing SEO teams or specialists, including setting standards, processes, and performance goals.
  • Familiarity with tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar SEO and competitive intelligence platforms.
