We are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded search engine marketer to join our digital marketing agency as an SEO Strategist.
SALARY: £29,800
Flexible working at Impression without losing team connections
We love the focus of deep work at home, but we value team connections just as much. That’s why we practice a hybrid model with a minimum of one purposeful Pulse Day in the office per week. The SEO team meet every Tuesday to catch up and collaborate.
The Role:
Within our organic search department, this role takes full ownership of organic search strategies across a diverse client portfolio - translating complex search challenges into commercial opportunities, driving organic growth, and delivering tangible ROI.
The SEO Strategist leads the strategic direction for their accounts, collaborating with specialist delivery teams to ensure high-impact execution.
Client Ownership & Strategy Delivery
Channel Ownership: Formulate, prioritise, and drive organic search roadmaps tailored to each client's specific commercial objectives and technical constraints.
Performance Reporting: Lead monthly reviews and quarterly Strategic Planning Meetings (SPMs), providing clear narrative reporting on performance trends, activity completion, and ROI.
Quality Assurance (QA): Review and sign off on account deliverables produced by supporting Analysts and Executives before client submission.
Account Health & Risk Mitigation: Collaborate closely with Client Performance teams to track account health, diagnose performance dips early, and propose proactive solutions.
Pitch & New Business Support: Partner with the commercial team on prospective client audits, pitch decks, and proposals.
Mentorship & Agency Contribution
Team Guidance: Support junior team members' progression through clear task briefing, effective Q&A and clear, continuous feedback.
Knowledge Sharing: Act as a strategic sounding board across the department, sharing search insights, testing new methodologies, and contributing to internal best practice.
Agency Profile: Contribute to Impression’s thought leadership and marketing efforts, including case studies, white papers, and industry commentary.
About You:
We are looking for someone with deep strategic SEO knowledge, a proven track record of successful campaign execution across varied verticals, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
While we typically look for at least 3+ years of dedicated SEO experience, appointment is based on capability, strategic vision, and demonstrated impact.
Key competencies we look for
Account & Strategy Ownership: Proven experience building and executing organic search strategies across diverse verticals, owning the channel and delivering measurable performance gains.
Commercial Acumen & ROI: Strong ability to connect organic search KPIs to broader commercial outcomes, using data and reporting to demonstrate clear business value.
Stakeholder Management: Clear, credible communication with senior client stakeholders - distilling complex technical or strategic concepts into actionable insights across calls, meetings, and written updates.
Cross-Channel Collaboration: A clear understanding of where Organic Search fits into the wider digital mix, collaborating effectively with disciplines such as Digital PR, Content, and Paid Media.
Task Delegation & Quality Assurance: Experience scoping clear briefs for supporting team members (Executives and Analysts), providing constructive feedback, and reviewing outputs to protect delivery standards.
Vertical Experience: Hands-on experience across both lead-generation and e-commerce businesses within a fast-paced agency environment is strongly preferred.
Please note, this role is a hybrid role, in line with our flexible working policy. We look to hire candidates who are no more than a 90 minute journey away from our office locations to ensure your personal time is protected and that you're able to travel into the office when necessary.
