Job Purpose

We are seeking a Service Technical Specialist to provide expert technical support, remote diagnostics, and advanced troubleshooting for precision farming technology. As part of our North American Product Technical Support team, you will act as a primary technical advisor for dealership service technicians, dealership precision specialists, field service staff, and engineering teams.

In this role, you will diagnose complex issues with displays, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers, guidance and steering systems, application and section control, on-board mapping systems, telematics, and cloud-based farm data management. You will resolve dealer-submitted technical concerns, help resolve field support cases, and author technical service bulletins that improve product reliability across our precision farming portfolio.

Precision Farming Technical Support Teams

We have multiple openings within the team and this posting is for the following teams. Candidates hired will be placed on one of these three teams:

  • On-Vehicle Core Display, GNSS, and Guidance: displays and display software, GNSS receivers and correction signals, vehicle & implement auto-guidance steering systems.
  • On-Vehicle Application Control and Data Management: GNSS-based sectional and prescription application control, as-applied and yield mapping systems, and on-vehicle telematics hardware.
  • Off-Vehicle Cloud Data & Fleet Management: vehicle management system (VMS), CNH FieldOps, and activations

Key Responsibilities

  • Remote Technical Support: Provide urgent, high-level technical support and troubleshooting guidance to dealership service technicians, precision farming specialists, service managers, and field staff in response to dealer-submitted technical concerns, by phone and through digital support portals.
  • Positioning and Guidance Diagnostics: Troubleshoot GNSS receivers and correction signal issues, including satellite, radio, and cellular differential corrections, along with OEM and retrofitted guidance and steering system hardware, software, hydraulics, & electronics calibration and performance.
  • Display and Software Support: Support display software and firmware updates, activations, and licensing. Diagnose International Organization for Standardization bus (ISOBUS) compatibility issues, including Virtual Terminal and Task Controller functions with third-party implements.
  • Application and Data Support: Support GNSS-based prescription rate control setup, boundary & overlap sectional control, yield monitor operation and calibration, and as-applied and yield mapping. Resolve data transfer and cloud synchronization issues between machines, displays, and the farm data management platform.
  • System Diagnostics: Use electrical schematics, Controller Area Network (CAN) bus traces, system logs, and electronic diagnostic tools to interpret fault codes, electronic control unit (ECU) parameters, and telemetry data for root-cause problem identification.
  • Quality & Engineering Collaboration: Document recurring technical issues, perform initial failure analysis, and collaborate with Product Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to develop product reliability improvements and update technical publications.
  • Knowledge Base Authoring: Create, update, and publish technical service documents, troubleshooting guides, and solution articles in the self-help service database to accelerate repair resolution times for dealers.
  • Case Management: Accurately track and document all dealer-submitted technical concerns and diagnostic telemetry in the contact management system for future reference.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Precision Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Ag Systems Technology, Agronomy, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on technical support, installation, or service experience with precision farming technology, agricultural equipment, or mobile heavy equipment.

OR

  • Associate degree in Precision Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Ag Systems Technology, Agronomy, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on technical support, installation, or service experience with precision farming technology, agricultural equipment, or mobile heavy equipment.

AND

  • Technical Aptitude: Strong working knowledge of electronic control systems, direct current electrical schematics, vehicle networks, and software-based systems, along with a solid understanding of the hydraulic and mechanical systems they control.
  • Positioning Fundamentals: Working knowledge of GNSS operation, correction signal accuracy levels, and the factors that affect guidance performance.
  • Connectivity: Basic networking knowledge, including cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Internet Protocol (IP) addressing.
  • Field Operations Knowledge: Understanding of planting, spraying, fertilizer application, and harvest workflows, with the ability to distinguish an operator setup issue from a system fault.
  • Software & Tools: Proficiency with diagnostic software, CAN analysis tools, telemetry systems, file management, and standard business applications (Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills for explaining complex diagnostic steps over the phone and in written support cases.
  • Technical Curiosity: Strong desire to learn and understand technical systems in a rapidly evolving technology environment, including a self-starting desire to get hands-on with available equipment to expand experience.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% as needed for field testing, dealer support, seasonal field visits, or factory training.

Work Schedule & Location Options:

This position operates on a Hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

Candidates can be based out of any of the following CNH Technical Training and Support facilities:

  • Racine, Wisconsin, USA
  • Ames, Iowa, USA
  • New Holland, Pennsylvania, USA
  • Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA
  • Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Standard working hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with the potential for shifted schedules, seasonal extended hours, or rotating Saturday coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a dealership precision farming specialist, or in precision farming sales, installation, or support.
  • 3+ years of technical support or dealership service technician experience on agricultural equipment.
  • Mixed-fleet experience with competitor precision farming systems, such as John Deere, Trimble, Ag Leader, or Raven.
  • Experience with mapping or Geographic Information System (GIS) software and prescription file formats, such as shapefiles and ISO-XML.
  • Familiarity with digital controller architecture and vehicle network protocols, including CAN, Local Interconnect Network (LIN), ISOBUS, and Ethernet.
  • Hands-on farming or custom application experience.
  • Experience working in a dealership service department or technical help desk environment.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $63,750.00 - $114,425.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
