Shopify Developer & Website Optimisation Specialist

About the Role We are a growing snack brand bringing bold, real-fruit products to market in a modern, convenient format. As the brand continues to grow, we're looking for a Shopify Developer & Website Optimisation Specialist to improve the performance, usability, and discoverability of our e-commerce website. This isn't a ground-up website build. The immediate priority is reviewing the existing site, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing those changes across design, UX, development, and SEO. The ideal candidate combines strong Shopify development skills with an understanding of e-commerce UX, CRO, and SEO — and can independently recommend improvements rather than simply waiting for tasks to be assigned. Work Structure & Requirements Location: Remote / Virtual Schedule: Project-based with ongoing support Time Zone: CST business hours Compensation: 10 - 12 USD per hour Key Responsibilities 1. Shopify Development & Website Optimisation Manage and improve our existing Shopify website Review the current customer journey and identify areas of friction or confusion Improve overall website navigation, structure, and user flow Implement Shopify theme customisations and front-end improvements Improve product, collection, and landing page layouts Ensure the website performs effectively across desktop and mobile Troubleshoot technical Shopify issues and bugs Manage and optimise Shopify apps and integrations Improve site speed and overall website performance Implement new website functionality as required 2. Conversion Rate Optimisation Identify opportunities to improve conversion rate, add-to-cart rate, and checkout progression Review product pages and recommend improvements to layout, messaging, imagery, and calls to action Improve merchandising and product discovery across the website Build and optimise landing pages for campaigns, launches, and promotions Use website performance data to continually identify optimisation opportunities Support basic A/B testing and CRO initiatives where appropriate 3. SEO & Organic Search Conduct an initial technical and on-page SEO audit Optimise page titles, meta descriptions, headings, URLs, and internal linking Improve product and collection page SEO Identify and resolve technical SEO issues affecting indexing or search visibility Improve site structure and content hierarchy for search engines Conduct keyword research relevant to the snack and better-for-you food category Support ongoing SEO improvements designed to increase organic traffic over time Monitor rankings, organic traffic, and website search performance 4. Analytics & Ongoing Website Support Monitor website performance using Shopify analytics and relevant analytics tools Help configure and maintain Google Analytics and Google Search Console Track key e-commerce metrics and identify areas requiring attention Provide clear recommendations based on website and customer behaviour data Maintain the website as products, promotions, and business priorities evolve Proactively identify improvements rather than waiting for issues to arise Required Skills & Experience Experience: 3+ years of Shopify development or e-commerce website experience Shopify: Strong hands-on knowledge of Shopify themes, customisation, and website management CRO: Demonstrated experience improving e-commerce website UX and conversion SEO: Strong understanding of technical and on-page SEO; experience optimising product and collection pages for both conversion and organic search Analytics: Good understanding of e-commerce analytics and customer behaviour; comfortable with Google Analytics and Google Search Console Design Eye: Strong eye for website design, layout, and usability Profile: Able to independently audit a website and turn findings into actionable improvements; highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working with limited direction Communication: Strong written and spoken English
