The Role

We are adding an integral member of the OpenLight Operations team with highly cross-functional responsibilities towards optimizing the yield, quality and reliability of our photonic integrated circuit (PIC) products.

In this role, you will own product-level yield and qualification towards high volume manufacturing (HVM) and will work closely with OpenLight’s design, layout, fab process, test, reliability, supply chain, and commercial teams, as well as with external foundry and back-end partners.

What You Will Do

  • Define HVM yield and qualification methodologies for OpenLight’s PDK components and PIC products, from wafer test through final shipped product

  • Baseline and forecast product yield; define, initiate, and steer successful completion of yield and quality improvement efforts across the product portfolio in collaboration with internal stakeholders

  • End-to-end yield ownership of OpenLight’s PIC products through HVM; partner closely with the platform/process, heterogeneous wafer bonding, and back-end (e.g., wafer bumping and singulation) teams, as well as external foundry partners, to translate upstream process and material changes (epi, silicon front end, post-bond processing) into product-level performance and yield outcomes; provide feedback and recommendations to all stakeholders

  • Working in tandem with OpenLight’s design, test and reliability teams, ensure that PDK components and PIC products can meet specifications over PVT and through qualification testing (e.g., burn-in, HTOL); analyze test data for lasers, modulators, optical amplifiers, and other components; support test and reliability plans and customer reports; optimize PIC product specs and analyze KGD data

  • Maintain and document workflows for data analysis, reporting, and traceability that feed into OpenLight’s data ecosystem and work cross-functionally to improve data accessibility for all stakeholders

Your Background Includes

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Materials Science, Applied Physics, or related discipline; 3+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Very strong background and experience in statistical analysis, data mining, and simulation tools such as JMP and Python; experience with machine learning data/image analysis is a plus

  • Working knowledge of III-V or silicon photonic wafer process development and manufacturing, with strong depth in product-level test, qualification, and characterization

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics, photonic device and PIC design, test, qualification, and reliability

  • Hands-on experience with issue management and orchestration of cross-functional teams

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; independent thinker

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong ability to systematically organize complicated analysis and concisely communicate to a large range of stakeholders with clear recommendations and priorities driven by business objectives; strong interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
