Lanteris Space LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intuitive Machines, is currently seeking an entry-level Software Development Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA, or a US remote location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing software for spacecraft simulators that are used by internal and external customers. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to begin their career in the space industry working on cutting-edge simulation technology.
Intuitive Machines is a leading space infrastructure company that builds spacecraft, connects networks, and operates infrastructure-as-a-service for commercial, civil, and national security customers. With a proven track record across the space domain, the Company, through organic growth and portfolio expansion, has built over 300 spacecraft, delivered over 260 kilograms of payload to the lunar surface, and provided precision navigation expertise that has guided spacecraft across our solar system.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement models of spacecraft components and/or subsystems for all-software spacecraft simulators
- Learn and apply spacecraft hardware specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and technical documentation to develop accurate software models
- Adhere to current satellite and software industry best practices
- Deploy code through existing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Collaborate with team members to find solutions to design and evaluate technical trade-offs
- Communicate cross-functionally with software and systems engineers to ensure a coherent system design
- Write and perform unit, integration, and system-level tests on software applications
- Participate in customer-facing design reviews and other technical discussions
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines, or degree received within 3 months of hire date
- Proficiency with Linux or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Familiarity with software compilers and other software development tools
- Experience (academic or professional) in the following:
- Developing software in C++ or Python
- Debugging and troubleshooting software systems
- Software development best practices
- Version control systems (Git)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong applied mathematics skills, including numerical methods, linear algebra, differential equations, and/or computational physics
- Experience implementing mathematical algorithms in software (coursework projects, research, or professional work)
- Academic projects involving simulation, modeling, or real-time systems
- Relevant internship or co-op experience in software development, aerospace, or simulation
- Coursework or project experience with object-oriented programming and software design patterns
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts
- Exposure to Agile methodologies or modern software development practices
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Passion to work on space applications
- Interest in spacecraft systems, operations, design, or testing
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within Delaware is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within California is: $77,000.00 - $128,000.00 annually.For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
