We are seeking Sinhalese (Sinhala) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Sinhalese, widely spoken in Sri Lanka, is a rare but critical South Asian language for asylum and immigration proceedings. Responsibilities Provide real-time Sinhalese ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders. Deliver services with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism. Maintain strict confidentiality under USCIS/DHS compliance standards. Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews. Qualifications Native or near-native fluency in Sinhalese (Sinhala) and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, government, or healthcare preferred). Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness. Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance. Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay: $28–35/hour (rare-language premium).
