Role description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Site Civil Engineer to join our growing Water Resilience team in Columbus, OH. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of buried utility infrastructure and land development associated with wastewater and water treatment facilities and pump station projects, supporting project delivery from initial planning through design and construction.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation in site civil design, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and experience using hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software to support drainage, stormwater, sanitary, potable water and other utility design solutions. The ideal candidate would have experience primarily focusing on municipal infrastructure projects.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of a wide range of site civil engineering projects, including land development, grading, stormwater management, drainage systems, and utility infrastructure. You will prepare engineering drawings, plan sets, grading plans, utility layouts, profiles, and technical details using AutoCAD Civil 3D, while supporting hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and developing design solutions that meet applicable standards, regulations, and client requirements. You will also assist with the preparation of site plans, stormwater management reports, erosion and sediment control plans, permit applications, technical memoranda, project reports, and construction cost estimates. Other responsibilities include:

• Develop civil site design deliverables, including grading, drainage, utility infrastructure, and construction documentation for a variety of land development associated with municipal infrastructure projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and support the preparation of stormwater management, permitting, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, utility providers, and multidisciplinary project teams to support successful project delivery.
• Participate in site investigations, field assessments, and construction-phase activities while maintaining high-quality project documentation and supporting project schedule and quality objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in site civil engineering, land development, or related infrastructure projects

Key Skills & Attributes:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with civil site design and plan production.
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM, StormCAD, SewerCAD, CivilStorm, InfoDrainage, or PCSWMM
• Knowledge of site grading, stormwater management, utility design, sanitary sewer capacity analysis, and construction administration principles. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure with experience supporting land development, municipal, transportation, or water infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with local jurisdictional standards, permitting requirements, and regulatory processes
• Exposure to additional design and analysis tools such as GIS or MicroStation

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $105,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
