Site Reliability Engineer / AWS Platform Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer / AWS Platform Engineer to join a leading global technology company operating within the travel and e-commerce industry.

You will join an established engineering team responsible for building and operating highly available NoSQL infrastructure, with a strong focus on AWS, Terraform, platform automation and control plane development.

This is not a traditional operational SRE role. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who enjoys building scalable infrastructure solutions, automating complex processes and improving how production platforms are managed.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure, primarily supporting DynamoDB and NoSQL platforms.
• Develop and enhance centralised control plane capabilities to manage infrastructure across multiple AWS accounts.
• Build reusable Terraform modules and automate infrastructure provisioning, upgrades and deployments.
• Develop self-service platform capabilities for internal engineering teams.
• Automate manual operational processes using Python, Go or Java.
• Manage AWS infrastructure, including IAM, VPC, EC2, KMS and CloudWatch.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, monitoring and incident response.
• Support infrastructure modernisation and large-scale migration initiatives.

Required Experience

• 3–5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure or Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, particularly IAM, networking and multi-account environments.
• Excellent Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go or Java.
• Experience designing or developing control planes, internal platforms or infrastructure automation solutions.
• Production experience with DynamoDB or other distributed NoSQL databases.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting and distributed systems knowledge.
• Proven experience automating infrastructure operations and improving platform reliability.
• Kubernetes experience

Rate: €110 per hour

Contract type: Independent contractor – valid Dutch KvK registration required

Duration: 12 months

Location: Mainly remote, with occasional travel to Amsterdam
