Tittle: SRE Engineer
Location: Remote
Visa: USC W2 Position
Role: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Operations, AWS, MERN, and Data Focus. The position supports healthcare production systems and emphasizes operational reliability, cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and automation.
Key Focus Areas
Maintain availability, performance, scalability, and resilience of AWS-hosted healthcare applications and data platforms.
Balance work between:
~60% operations: incident response, production support, data pipeline operations, and infrastructure tuning.
~40% engineering: building automation and eliminating operational toil.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate and support AWS-based MERN applications and backend data systems.
Manage AWS Lambda serverless workloads, including performance optimization and troubleshooting.
Monitor and support PySpark data pipelines, including failure recovery and job reruns.
Participate in on-call rotations and resolve production incidents.
Maintain compliance with healthcare security standards including HIPAA, SOC2, and HITRUST.
Build monitoring, dashboards, and alerts for Node.js applications and Spark workloads.
Lead blameless post-mortems and implement permanent fixes.
Required Technical Skills
4+ years operating cloud-hosted or cloud-native SaaS platforms.
Strong AWS experience, specifically:
Lambda
ECS/EKS
EMR or AWS Glue
EC2
VPC
IAM
CloudWatch
Programming and automation using:
Python (including PySpark)
Node.js
Experience with:
ETL and data orchestration pipelines
Messaging systems such as SQS, SNS, or RabbitMQ
Distributed data processing environments
MERN stack operational expertise, including Node.js performance and memory management.
Database administration experience with MySQL and Athena.
Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or OpenTofu.
Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare industry experience, especially HIPAA-regulated environments.
Experience securing healthcare data and handling sensitive patient information.
At least 4 years of software/systems experience, with 1-2 years focused on cloud operations and distributed data workflows.
Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and stakeholder communication skills.
Overall Assessment
This is primarily an operations-focused SRE role rather than a pure software engineering position. The ideal candidate would be someone with AWS cloud operations experience, strong Python/Node.js skills, hands-on data pipeline support (PySpark/ETL), and experience running production SaaS systems in a regulated healthcare environment. The emphasis is on reliability, incident response, automation, observability, and cloud infrastructure operations.
