Description
We are easyJet – a FTSE-250 listed, £multi-billion low-cost airline that serves tens of millions of customers every single year. If you’re reading this, you have probably already been an easyJet customer, and you’ll know that there is no more iconic (or Orange!) travel brand in Europe.
We fly more than 1,207 routes, connecting 38 countries across Europe, and employ more than 18,000 colleagues. We’re on a mission to make low-cost travel easy – and whatever your role here, you’ll connect millions of people to what they love using Europe’s best airline network, great value fares, and friendly service.
What makes us easyJet? Our Promise Behaviours – we are Safe, Bold, Welcoming and Challenging. Four Behaviours. One Spirit. One easyJet.
Join us as our Site Reliability Engineer – FinOps and help reshape how airline and travel companies work with AI.
In this role, you will be the single owner of AI cost visibility, building the systems that make AI spend visible, attributable, and controllable across the entire enterprise.
✈️ The Opportunity
At easyJet, we treat AI enablement as a product, with our colleagues as our customers. AI consumption is metered by the token, the call, and the agent decision, causing bills to fluctuate daily.
While many companies only see the total bill, we want to know what AI costs per person, per task, and per outcome in real time—with zero spreadsheets involved.
Requirements of the Role
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
· Set the Direction: Own the vision for measuring, managing, and optimising AI cost across the entire enterprise.
· Make Cost Visible: Design instrumentation so every model call captures token-level consumption and carries cost-relevant context.
· Build the Economics: Construct pipelines that turn gateway and billing logs into near real-time, queryable data models.
· Keep It Under Control: Build default budget caps, token quotas, anomaly alerts, and cost policies directly into the platform.
· Connect the Dots: Expose cost data through APIs to partner with Finance, Procurement, and engineering teams.
👤 What We Are Looking For
Essential Experience
· FinOps and Data Engineering: Strong background in FinOps, cloud cost engineering, or data engineering with a focus on AI workloads.
· LLM Knowledge: Solid grasp of LLM consumption and pricing (tokens, context windows, caching, and agent behaviour).
· Technical Skills: Hands-on experience building data pipelines using Python, SQL, and modern telemetry/observability tools.
· Communication: Ability to translate complex consumption data into plain financial language and influence teams without authority.
Please note that this role does not meet the criteria for visa sponsorship, and we are therefore unable to consider applicants who require sponsorship to work in the UK.”
