  • Support vendor evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and the transition to a future enterprise release management platform.
  • Participate in pipeline planning and design, and support release and orchestration processes.
  • Contribute to automation policy, standards, and processes, and promote reuse across teams through demos and coaching.
  • Ensure automations comply with Sun Life security directives and change management requirements.
  • Create automation playbooks and documentation, identify automation opportunities, and educate others on tools and best practices.
  • Balance platform reliability, operational support, stakeholder engagement, and incident resolution with an SRE mindset.

About You

What you’ll bring

  • 3–5 years’ experience in automation development, with strong Ansible experience.
  • Kubernetes/OpenShift administration (CKA/CKS a plus).
  • Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Hands-on Python and Ansible automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Broadcom Continuous Delivery Director (CDD) or another enterprise release orchestration tool (e.g. Harness).
  • Hands-on coding experience with Java, Apache Tomcat, JAX-RS, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Hands-on experience with containers/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring and log ingestion tools (Splunk preferred).
  • Networking, firewalls, proxies, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • System architecture and integration design.
  • Strong SRE mindset focused on reliability, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, and experience working with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Intermediate understanding of enterprise delivery methodologies such as ITIL and Agile.
  • Eligible for Reliability Status Clearance (lived and worked in Canada for the past 5 consecutive years; no exceptions).

Additional experience we value

  • Emerging capabilities in AI-assisted operations, AI-driven automation, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AI agent integration patterns.
  • Passion for innovation and automation, with the ability to get comfortable quickly in unfamiliar business areas or technologies.
