About the role
The Social Impact Specialist drives Intact's presence and influence within the community-level ecosystem to foster climate adaptation — building durable relationships with municipalities, Indigenous communities, associations, and local enablers that shape resilience on the ground across Canada.
By expanding Intact's voice among adaptation enablers, amplifying flagship partnerships, and building capacity for climate resilience at the community level, this role reinforces Intact's reputation and brand as an industry leader in building resilient, thriving communities — while creating employee engagement opportunities that connect Intact's people to that mission.
This is a role for someone who leads with cultural and political sensitivity about local realities, builds trust with community stakeholders, and facilitates how communities across Canada adapt and thrive.
What you’ll do here:
Lead Community-Level Adaptation Relationships
- Develop meaningful, year-round engagement with community stakeholders to advance climate resilience.
- Advance community capacity-building initiatives for adaptation scale-up in collaboration with IFC teams/business units and partners.
- Expand and lead relationships with key adaptation enablers at the community level.
Advance Community Resilience Leadership
- Support flagship partnerships (Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation, Nature Conservancy of Canada) to amplify impact and reach.
- Activate Intact's presence at key conferences and events, ensuring thought leadership and brand alignment.
- Build relationships with peers and stakeholders to increase Intact's voice and contribution on community resilience, collaborating with Communications to amplify reach.
- Source, create and/or activate employee engagement opportunities connected to community resilience work.
- Contribute to climate adaptation strategy, including partnerships development and planning.
Manage Stakeholder Intelligence
- Administer the CRM platform to pool intelligence and inform stakeholder management across business units.
- Monitor regional realities, dynamics, and engagement best practices.
Your strengths:
- Relationship-building and stakeholder trust: Naturally able to establish authentic connections and build credibility with diverse stakeholder groups through strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Adaptability and external representation: Comfortable operating in ambiguous and evolving environments, while confidently representing the organization with external partners, clients, and senior audiences.
- Creative and innovative activation development: Demonstrated ability to design compelling, memorable engagement opportunities that bring conferences, events, and strategic partnerships to life while advancing organizational objectives.
- Cross-functional collaboration and consensus-building: Proven ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization, align diverse business units, and build commitment among senior stakeholders.
- Political acumen and diplomatic judgment: Skilled at understanding organizational dynamics, managing sensitivities, and navigating complex situations with tact, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Ownership and execution: Demonstrated track record of taking accountability for outcomes, driving initiatives from concept through delivery, and ensuring commitments are met with quality and consistency.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking and French-speaking colleagues across the country.
- Post Secondary education in a relevant field such as community development, sustainability, social sciences or public policy.
- Minimum 8 years experience engaging in stakeholder management, community engagement and build trust across diverse regional contexts – is required.
- Ability to travel nationally about 15% of the year – is required.
- Understanding of climate adaptation issues and the municipal/community stakeholder landscape in Canada, ideally with some experience engaging with Indigenous communities.
