About Calavera New York Calavera New York is a fine jewelry and diamond house dedicated to exceptional craftsmanship, bespoke design, and an elevated client experience.

About the Role We are looking for a creative, charismatic Social Media Content Creator in South Africa to serve as the on camera face and digital storyteller of Calavera New York. This is not a behind the scenes scheduling role, this is a high-impact, front-facing creative position blending short and long form video production, community management and strategic influencer partnerships.

You will spend the majority of your time conceptualizing, filming, and editing engaging content for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X (Twitter) etc. Beyond creating original content, you will manage our online reputation, coordinate influencer campaigns, drive customer (UGC) initiatives, and support our retention marketing channels.

Priority consideration will be given to candidates with a background in Film/Media Production and preexisting knowledge of the diamond or fine jewelry industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-Platform Content Creation & Editing: Conceptualize, shoot, and edit high-performing video and static content tailored for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and X (Twitter). Serve comfortably as on camera talent to showcase our brand story, educate audiences, and highlight our pieces.

  • Influencer Outreach & PR Coordination: Identify, vet, and reach out to aligned influencers and creators. Manage the end-to-end partnership lifecycle, from negotiations and seeding to campaign execution and performance tracking.

  • Customer Content (UGC) Initiatives: Build and coordinate structured programs that incentivize and guide our customers to capture and share authentic content featuring their Calavera New York jewelry.

  • Online Reputation & Review Management: Monitor and respond thoughtfully to all online customer reviews and social comments, maintaining our signature warm, sophisticated, white-glove brand voice.

  • Email & SMS Marketing Support: Collaborate on the planning, copywriting, and execution of engaging email and SMS marketing campaigns to nurture leads and drive client retention.

  • Global Cross-Functional (XFN) Collaboration: Work seamlessly across time zones with our US and international leadership, marketing, and concierge teams to align content calendars with product launches and brand initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • US PR Experience (Required): Proven experience working in Public Relations, influencer marketing, or media communications specifically catering to the US market.

  • On-Camera Presence & Video Editing Mastery (Required): Demonstrable experience as confident, engaging on-camera talent, paired with strong proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut) and platform native trends.

  • Formal Education (Plus): A degree or diploma in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related creative field is a strong plus.

  • Industry Knowledge (Plus): Existing knowledge of diamonds, the 4Cs, gemology, or the luxury fine jewelry space is highly advantageous.

  • Exceptional Communication: Articulate, persuasive, and poised written and verbal English communication skills suited for a luxury brand and high value clientele.

  • Remote Work Readiness: A quiet, well-lit, dedicated home workspace/studio environment in South Africa with high-speed fiber internet and reliable backup power (inverter/UPS) to ensure uninterrupted production and availability during scheduled hours.

Compensation, Schedule & Benefits

  • Compensation: R42,000 per month gross salary, performance bonuses available.

  • Official Local Employment: Hired as a full-time, permanent South African employee via our global Employer of Record (EOR) partner, complete with compliant local payroll, statutory benefits, and paid annual leave.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM SAST (8 paid working hours per day + a 1-hour lunch break).

  • Location: 100% Remote from anywhere in South Africa (preferably Johannesburg or Cape Town).
