Social Media Manager

Hotseat is a strategy-led digital agency for brands that refuse to stand still, with teams across Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, the UK and the Netherlands. We bring together senior specialists across strategy, content, development and performance to deliver end-to-end digital solutions that actually move the needle. We manage social platforms as living brand environments, not posting calendars - which is exactly the mindset we need in this role. We're looking for a Social Media Manager to own day-to-day content and community for a mix of our client accounts.

What you'll do

• Plan and run monthly content calendars across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn for multiple client brands
• Write the actual copy - captions, hooks, community replies, campaign copy - not just brief someone else to do it
• Manage community engagement and respond to comments/DMs in a brand-appropriate voice
• Work closely with our paid media, design and strategy teams to keep organic and paid content aligned
• Track and report on performance monthly, translating numbers into what to do differently next month
• Stay on top of platform trends and bring fresh content formats to our clients before their competitors do.

What you'll need

• Strong copywriting ability. You need to be able to write a scroll-stopping caption yourself, not just manage a calendar. Please include writing samples or a portfolio with your application.
• Fluency in English plus at least one other African language (isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sesotho, etc.) - several of our clients need content and community management that speaks to local audiences in more than one language.
• 3-4 years' experience running social media for brands or clients (agency experience a strong plus)
• Comfortable across Instagram, TikTok and Meta Business Suite; bonus if you've used scheduling/reporting tools like Later, Sprout, or similar
• A good eye for what makes content perform, not just what looks nice
• Solid organisational skills - you'll be juggling several client accounts and calendars at once.

Nice to have

• Basic Canva/creative editing skills for quick-turnaround content
• Experience with paid social boosting or working alongside a paid media team
• An existing understanding of the FMCG, hospitality, or sportswear space
