Tasks and Qualifications:

What You Will Do in This Role

As an Advanced Analytics Co-op, you’ll work alongside software engineers, data analysts, and other technical team members to solve real-world problems using data. You’ll gain hands-on experience with analytics, dashboards, databases, cloud technologies, and warehouse automation while contributing to projects that are used by real customers.

This is an opportunity to take what you’re learning in the classroom and apply it to large-scale, automated distribution and manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers, analysts, and business partners to understand problems and turn them into practical analytics solutions.
  • Help design, build, test, and improve dashboards, reports, and other data-driven applications.
  • Query and analyze data using technologies such as SQL, Google BigQuery, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Work with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to turn data into useful insights.
  • Learn how data moves through automated warehouse and material handling systems and how it can be used to improve operations.
  • Assist with testing and validating analytics solutions to make sure the results are accurate and ready for customer use.
  • Participate in requirements discussions, technical design sessions, troubleshooting, and solution reviews.
  • Document solutions and communicate your findings to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team while also taking ownership of individual assignments.
  • Gain exposure to cloud platforms, modern data architectures, and large-scale industrial automation systems.

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Kettering University, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Students at different points in their co-op journey are encouraged to apply. We’re looking for curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn, not someone who already knows everything on this list.

Knowledge / Qualifications

You don’t need to check every box. A strong candidate will have some of the following experience through coursework, personal projects, previous co-op rotations, or other hands-on learning:

  • Basic experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with or an interest in Python for data analysis, automation, or application development.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker is a plus.
  • An interest in working with data to identify trends, investigate problems, and develop solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar technical challenges.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical ideas clearly.
  • Experience working on team-based programming, engineering, or analytics projects through coursework, extracurricular activities, or previous co-op assignments.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, data engineering, APIs, or modern software development is a plus.
  • An interest in automation, robotics, material handling equipment, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain technology is a plus.
  • Most importantly, a desire to learn, experiment, ask questions, and build things that solve real problems.

What You’ll Get From the Experience

  • Hands-on experience with real production data and customer-facing engineering solutions.
  • Exposure to modern analytics, cloud, and data technologies.
  • Experience working with software and data generated by automated warehouse systems.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills in SQL, Python, visualization, data analysis, and software engineering.
  • Experience working through the complete lifecycle of a solution, from understanding the original problem through development, testing, validation, and delivery.
  • Mentorship and collaboration with experienced software, analytics, and automation engineers.
  • Meaningful project ownership rather than purely observational or administrative co-op work.
