Show job description

At Evam, we're reshaping how enterprises engage with their customers, enabling real-time, data-driven interactions at scale. From our HQ in London and offices in Amsterdam,Istanbul and Sofia we help leading Telcos, banks, and global brands connect with over 500 million people every month, delivering the right message at the right moment. Our AI-powered event processing engine and real-time machine learning capabilities turn complex customer data into instant, personalized experiences that drive measurable business outcomes across every channel.
Recognized as a Forbes Türkiye Top 50 Startup, an Endeavor High-Impact Venture, and a Mar-Tech Awards winner, Evam is also proudly a Happy Place to Work.

We build a customer engagement platform that helps some of the largest consumer brands in banking, telecom and retail talk to their customers at exactly the right moment. Behind every well-timed message is a real-time platform that processes billions of events every day, under strict latency and reliability expectations, both in our clients' data centers and in the cloud.

We are looking for a Software Architect to shape the next chapter of that platform. This is a role for someone who combines deep technical judgment with genuine leadership: you will set the architectural direction, lead and grow the engineers who bring it to life, and partner closely with Product to decide what we build and why.
If you enjoy hard problems at scale, care about the people you work with, and want your decisions to show up in production, we would love to talk.

Shape the architecture
  • Own the architecture and technical vision of a core platform domain, from today's system to where it needs to be in two to three years.
  • Design for scale, resilience, performance and cost, and make the trade-offs explicit so that others can understand and challenge them.
  • Lead the big technical decisions: build or buy, evolve or replace, and how to change a live system safely.
  • Prove ideas with prototypes, benchmarks and data before the organization commits to them.
Lead and grow the team
  • Be the technical leader of your domain: set standards, guide design and code quality, and help the team deliver with confidence.
  • Coach and mentor engineers at every level, and help grow the next generation of tech leads and architects.
  • Build a culture of ownership, learning and constructive debate, where reviews and incidents make everyone better.
  • Help us attract and hire exceptional engineers.
Partner with Product
  • Work hand in hand with Product Management from the first idea to the release, and turn customer needs into clear technical options with honest trade-offs.
  • Bring a strong, constructive voice to roadmap and prioritization discussions.
  • Own outcomes, not just designs: quality, reliability and customer impact in production.
  • Communicate clearly with engineers, product managers, clients and executives alike.

  • Significant experience in software engineering, including several years as an architect, principal engineer or technical lead for large-scale, distributed systems in production.
  • Strong hands-on background in Java.
  • Proven experience with event streaming and data technologies such as Apache Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch in high-volume environments.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, performance engineering and designing for failure.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native practices, containers, Kubernetes and modern observability.
  • A track record of leading and mentoring engineers, and of earning trust through influence rather than authority.
  • A product mindset: you care about why something is built as much as how.
  • High ownership and a bias for action, balanced with sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have
  • Experience with real-time analytics, stream processing or complex event processing.
  • Background in customer engagement, marketing technology, banking or telecom.
  • Experience building enterprise software that runs both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Contributions to the engineering community through open source, talks or writing.

Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, Docker Swarm
Cloud: AWS, Azure
Cloud Services: EKS, ECR, ALB, WAF
CI/CD: Jenkins, Github, Nexus

Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki

Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch
