Critical FlyTech is a new organisation created by Airbus and Critical Software to deliver the next generation of safety-critical software across aviation, defence, and space. We are growing our systems engineering capability and looking for talented engineers who want to work on high-impact, real-world aerospace challenges.
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant hands-on experience with C and/or modern C++, and exposure to other programming languages, technologies or software paradigms.
- Proven experience in software architecture, technical design and architectural decision-making within complex software systems.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture principles, architectural and design patterns, APIs and interfaces, modularity, concurrency, performance, scalability, maintainability and testability.
- Ability to select appropriate technologies, languages, frameworks and architectural approaches based on system constraints rather than a predefined technology stack.
- Solid understanding of the software engineering V-cycle, requirements traceability, integration, verification and testing.
- Experience with embedded, real-time, distributed, aerospace, or safety-critical systems and standards such as DO-178C is highly valued.
- Define and evolve software architectures for complex aerospace applications, with C and C++ as important technologies but not necessarily the only implementation languages..
- Translate system and software requirements into architectural concepts, components, interfaces and technical designs.
- Evaluate and select technologies, programming languages, frameworks and technical approaches according to system needs, constraints and lifecycle considerations.
- Drive key technical decisions and architectural trade-offs, considering performance, reliability, maintainability, testability and safety.
- Guide development teams and contribute to architecture, design, and code reviews.
- Collaborate closely with software, systems, verification and Airbus teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support integration, verification, debugging and technical problem-solving, ensuring alignment between implementation and the defined architecture.
- Work that challenges you technically and helps you grow.
- A team that values collaboration, learning, and high-quality engineering.
- A culture where safety, excellence, and innovation guide everything we do.
- Competitive salary with performance-based recognition.
- Continuous training, mentoring, and career development.
- Modern offices designed to foster teamwork, creativity, and well-being.
