Software Asset Management Analyst

About This Role:

The Software Asset Management Analyst supports the effective management and optimization of Hunter's software and cloud technology investments. The role maintains visibility into the software license estate, with particular attention to SaaS applications that operate outside single sign-on and are not automatically deprovisioned when employees leave, and partners with users and managers to keep license assignments aligned with business need. The role also maintains reconciliation of software entitlements against deployment to support compliance and audit response, and provides supporting assistance with monitoring consumption-based cloud and platform billing, including Snowflake, Oracle Cloud, AWS, and AI/LLM API usage. The role also supports software vendor evaluations, software cost and usage reporting, and the day-to-day vendor management activities that underpin vendor relationships.

Essential Functions:

• Maintains an accurate inventory of software applications and licenses, with particular attention to SaaS applications provisioned outside single sign-on that are not automatically deprovisioned when employees are offboarded.
• Reviews license assignments and usage to identify unused, underused, or redundant licenses, and recommends reclamation or right-sizing to reduce cost.
• Partners with users, and where appropriate their managers, to confirm whether assigned licenses remain needed.
• Tracks software renewals and supports timely renewal, consolidation, and decommissioning decisions.
• Develops and maintains reporting on software costs and usage, and surfaces opportunities for cost optimization.
• Provides supporting assistance with cloud infrastructure cost reporting and optimization efforts.
• Supports software vendor evaluations by gathering requirements from internal stakeholders and facilitating communication with prospective vendors.
• Helps identify the best available SaaS solutions to meet specific business needs.
• Supports day-to-day vendor management activities in support of the Global Strategy & Portfolio Manager, who owns the vendor relationships, including SLA monitoring, subscription optimization, cloud service brokering, and vendor relationship governance.
• Maintains reconciliation of purchased/entitled license quantities against deployed and consumed licenses; flags compliance exposure and supports true-up analysis and publisher audit response.
• Provides supporting assistance with consumption-based cloud and platform billing (e.g., Snowflake, Oracle Cloud, AWS, AI/LLM API usage), including tracking spend against budget, flagging usage anomalies, and compiling data to support forecasting of variable cost.
• Evaluates available options and recommends a course of action for identified software licensing, cost, or compliance issues, then escalates the issue, available options, and recommendation to the Global Strategy & Portfolio Manager for final approval.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or an Information Technology-related discipline, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience Required and Preferred:

• Minimum two years of experience in software asset management, software licensing, IT vendor management, or a related role.

• Experience with software asset management (SAM) or SaaS management platforms preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud cost management or FinOps practices preferred.
• Experience supporting IT vendor management activities preferred.
• Experience with Power BI or Snowflake preferred.
• Familiarity with consumption-based/metered billing models for cloud or AI platforms preferred.

The salary for this opportunity ranges from $88,000-100,000.

The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
