About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Asset Management Specialist to oversee the full lifecycle of software licenses and vendor contracts across the APAC region, with a primary focus on key markets such as China and Japan. The ideal candidate brings dedicated, hands-on expertise in software licensing compliance, optimization, and vendor metric interpretation (with particular emphasis on major publishers like Microsoft).

This position is fully remote within Portugal and plays a critical role in bridging IT, Finance, Contract Management, and core business units to mitigate compliance risks and drive financial optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Oversee software assets from initial procurement and allocation to usage tracking, renewal, and retirement.
• Compliance & ELP Analysis: Lead data collection and detailed analysis to build Effective License Positions (ELP) and prepare for publisher audits.
• Licensing Interpretation: Translate complex publisher licensing models, rules, and metrics into actionable business strategies.
• Cost Optimization & Reharvesting: Identify idle or underutilized licenses, driving reallocation, downgrades, and reharvesting opportunities to minimize spend.
• Contractual & Financial Support: Partner with procurement and finance teams during true-ups, true-downs, contract renewals, and vendor negotiations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the functional bridge between IT operations, procurement, legal, and regional leadership in the APAC region.

Required Profile & Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience specifically in Software Asset Management (SAM) and software licensing (general procurement or broad contract management experience alone will not suffice).
• Deep understanding of major software vendor metrics, licensing terms, and usage tracking tools.
• Strong analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to process large datasets and deliver clear financial insights.
• Exceptional contractual interpretation skills and risk identification capabilities.
• Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken) to seamlessly support business operations in Asia.
