About the Role
JetBrains is looking for an experienced Staff Software Developer to join its Identity and Access Management team within the JetBrains Platform. The team owns foundational services responsible for authentication and authorization, as well as organizations, user memberships, groups, and workspaces.
These services support multiple JetBrains products and platform components, making reliability, security, scalability, and performance essential to the role.
As a Staff Software Developer, you will take ownership across the entire software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, code review, and production operations. You will primarily work with Kotlin, with some Go, while designing and evolving services within a distributed, multi-tenant SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own the complete software development lifecycle, including code, architecture, and operations.
Maintain and evolve production services primarily written in Kotlin, with some Go.
Ensure platform services remain reliable and performant as the platform scales.
Design and implement features across identity, organization, membership, group, and workspace domains.
Review and integrate pull requests from other platform teams.
Manage integrations with other JetBrains Platform components and connected applications.
Take ownership of existing production services and continuously improve their reliability and performance.
Collaborate with engineering teams across the platform to deliver robust identity and access solutions.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of JVM development experience, preferably with Kotlin.
Strong understanding of JVM performance and PostgreSQL performance optimization.
Experience building and operating production SaaS services.
Experience working with distributed and multi-tenant environments.
Ability to work with modern DevOps technologies and infrastructure.
Experience with Kubernetes (K8S), OpenTelemetry, and Grafana.
Demonstrated experience taking ownership of existing production services and improving them.
Strong software architecture and engineering skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with identity management protocols such as:
OAuth 2.0
OpenID Connect (OIDC)
SAML 2.0
SCIM 2.0
Experience designing and evolving domain models for organizational or identity systems.
Cybersecurity experience, including risk estimation, recognizing common vulnerability patterns, and promoting secure software development lifecycle practices.
Hands-on experience with Go.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced JVM engineer with at least seven years of development experience and a strong preference for Kotlin. You should be comfortable owning production services end-to-end, working with distributed SaaS systems, troubleshooting JVM and PostgreSQL performance, and operating services using modern DevOps tooling.
Experience with identity management, cybersecurity, domain modeling, and Go can further complement the role.
